Thanks @Shebeen @RobynE 🚵‍♀️ @thebob Just as an aside.... if putting all the components etc together is going to push my budget too far - How are these as back up options and I put the build on ice for a while?

The Skyrim is a solid bike by all accounts. No idea on the Silverback. I'll disagree with the sentiment on the Microshift gears. Plenty of review sites say it is excellent in terms of reliability and shift quality. SRAM SX is pants!

IMHO, spend most of the money on a good 2nd hand fork, 2nd hand carbon wheels and good brakes.

You can 100% do that here on the Bikehub

You don't need 12 speed, you don't even need 11 speed, BUT that is an easy upgrade later.

Ride quality and reliability is built around the suspension, the wheels and the brakes.

I ride wide range 1x10 on my hack around the mountains bike and it works brilliantly for what is is supposed to do. Not racing, not winning bling competitions with the bro's at Bootleggers, but it definitely isn't the limiting factor in my ability.

Seriously, buying a bike to parts across will get you bog average bits throughout the bike which gets you riding, but means you will need or want to upgrade everything again down the line.

Focus on the important bits and the bike will feel amazing from the start and get 'even better' if you decide you need an extra gear or 2 in the middle of the cassette.

I reckon this would give you great joy, and if you still have the itch for the Ibis, it would be pretty much a straight build-over.

Merida One Twenty 600

(Mellow is my LBS and if you were keen Wes would sort you out - also a great point of contact for you down the line)

id looked at this! it looms amazing, but this might be closer to my budget....

In terms of the rider’s budget, Rapide will be good bang for buck.

Don't care. Despite Lyne being better quality, and Rapidé being cheaper, I'm still going with Lyne. Also that's my subjective opinion as I've been burnt by Rapidé. I vote with my wallet.

I just got myself a 120 600, it is a great little bike, I am very happy with it so far, but I wouldn't go for that 120 300
