Peugeot PH12

A about 10 years ago or so my grandfather brought a bike over from Wales. He'd spotted it in a second hand store and thought it was quite interesting and that we'd appreciate it.

It has been lying around at my parents place since then, I used it a few times when I was younger.

I saw it the other day and thought I'd try find out a bit more about it. The downtube and seattube are oval and the cables are all in inside the tubing.

I've found out that it is a 100 year anniversary issue PH12, with original componentry except for the saddle.

it looks like this one.(not the actual bike but one off the internet)

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about them, how they ride, how many were made, are they worth refurbishing, etc?

Thanks

Hi Flowta - it doesn't really matter where you put it.

I think it looks marvellous (apart from the saddle you could sit a cow on) Peugeot was a big brand when I was a kid in Uk, but seems less so here.  I think the lack of response is that it's quite an obscure enquiry and folk just don't know.

Still interesting to see it, though.

In my family we have,

MTB:

1 x GT Flowta

1 x GT I-drive 4 1.0

1 x 1993 Bridgestone MB3

1 x 1989 Bridgestone MB5 trailblazer

ROAD:

1 x 1986 Miyata 712

1 x 1982 Peugeot PH12

1 x Trek 1000

1 x Scott S6

Also used to have a Bottechia and another MB5 but those where stolen quite a few years ago.

Jeez that is a few bikes, out of the family it is only my dad and I that ride regularly. Him on the Scott and me majority of the time on the I-drive 4 (but the Flowta is being built up and the MB3 is going to become a single speed, so things might change)

All the bikes are great to ride and it seems pity to get rid of any of them.

I did 3 Leppin Ironman canoe triathlons on a Peugeot Mirage with full 7 speed 105 ....... LittleBen started on it and even rode his first R4V and 94.7 on it. With an 11-21 nogal! Ok but I did swap the 42 for a 39 ........
