BUT Full Carbon is very cheap at the moment (although rumour has it that this is to end soon as the demand of the aerospace industry increases) Alu-carbon is a good buy some frame going for as little as R3500. Alu will always be a harsh ride. (even if it is cheap). Steel is always a steal......(a bit heavy but often cheap if you can get it). (probably one of the best frame materials) Titanium is very expensive.......... Manufacturers: Coicc Kona (both steel and carbon/alu) Schwinn Leggera?! Raleigh (even though no one wil admit it. If you buy the new team edition, the price is actually less for the complete bike than for the individual components. Just had quite a few LBS guys say that they had quite a few combacks with cracked frames when I was looking at Scotts. louiso Posted November 9, 2006 Share Very good value for money is the Merida range - from R 6500 (Alu + carbon) to R12000 (Carbon) for complete bikes with 105 to Dura Ace. Don't know the exact frame prices.
