So which is actually the fastest road race in SA?

I have these three on my list.

The Hyper
The Bela Bela

The Bakwena

Stats:
Hyper to Hyper
100km's with 510m Ascent
Winners Time was 2:06 (Malcolm Lange) at an average speed of 46.89kph

Bela Bela
93km's with 295m Ascent
Winners Time was 2:08 (Daryl Impey) at an average speed of 45.73kph

Bakwena
97.5km's with 410m Ascent

Winners Time was 2:13 (Jamie Ball) at an average speed of 43.9kph

So is Bakwena really the fastest!?!?

at risk of stating the obvious: it depends on the actual circumstances on the day i.e. the wind(!) and how willing the pack is to work.  even though all these seem to be rather flat i am sure that the course with less turns & better road surface would also have an impact.

are you sure about the ascent on the Bela Bela?

Dr. Seuss, The Bela to me is flatter than the Bakwena, there's two little bump's (3km's at 2%) at the end but nothing serious... and yes I agree about the circumstances... I reckon the Bakwena can go under 2 hours if it was a perfect day...

I believe Jason is referring to Bakwena's tag line "SA's fastest road race"... it appears not...

how about a Bakwena night race!

this way there will be little to no wind & i am sure the highway is lit up.

good idea!  i can motorpace behind 101% while we follow your taillights!

luckily for me my LBS can get it sorted before sunday - unfortunately the supplier only has black spokes in stock,  so seems that i will be starting a new trend - silver fulcrum racing1's with one black spoke! Thumbs%20Up

if i was riding carbon wheels i am sure the rim would be busted!
