I don't use anything. In the average road race gels won't give you anything that you can't get from a bottle of Energade mix.

 

Years back when I was coached, I was told that you waste your money on gels.

 

If you are racing Trans Baviaans, gels won't help you either. There you need proper food like bread and meat.

My favourite is not on the list. Enervitene Sports Gel (by Enervit).

 

Lemon flavour is the best. Cola is also nice.

 

If you are about to bonk or just feel totaly dead try Enervit's Cheerpack (http://www.bicycling.com/article/1,6610,s1-4-21-15274-1,00.html)

 

Expensive, ridiculously sweet, but it works like a charm.
