Hi Guys,

got a question. I'm thinking of getting the 705. Firstly is it worth it?? Bit of a big out lay for a cpu on a bike. Secondly how does it fit on the bike?

My road bike is a wing bar (ITM sword) and my mtb is an over sized sworks. Not sure I would mount this on the mtb bike. Would it work in my pocket?

any ideas????

It mounts onto the stem or the bars, but its rather large, so most people put it onto the stem. Your bars should not be a problem.

Regarding the value for money, well that depends what you want it for. If its just going to be a spedometer, then no. I use mine for training, and i send the files to my coach. I use it for navigation in my car, as the 705 has routable mapping, with turn by turn directions, and ive even loaded tracks and waypoints in the Drakensburg into the unit, and used it on a hike up Organ pipes. So yes its worth it if you are going to use it for more than just a bike computer, as the unit is very capable. Its also compatible with the Powertap SL 2.4 wireless and the Quarq power meter, so its makes sence if you are wanting to train with a power meter.

Oh yeah, and Avnic have excellent after sales service!!

Check out some reviews...

sounds great' date=' its defnitely on my christmas wishlist![/quote']

I see the prices have come down a lot.  I can get my hands on the basic one for R3936 and the one with the cadence sensor for R4529!

There are about 5 routes near me that I have GPS files for, but nowhere to load them.  Will have to get one!

Cant really comment on that, as ive ony used in on my MTB riding the spruit, which isnt that technical, and not too long. But lots of guys use the old 305 on their MTB, and i havent heard of too many problems with that?

Could prove to be costly if you continue to crash test your MTB Wink LOL

I had the 305 and it's a great "toy" both on and off road, worth the money and the 705 must be the holy grail now that it can interface with power meters, surprised the Jock hasn't got one yet.....

From where????

You can't put one on a jump bike. Do you want to see how high you jumped.

Offcourse! total ascent over distance traveled, while showing avg speed over the jump with calories burned from a "OH **** I AM GOING TO CRASH" moment and the avg cadence towards the jump. Sounds perfect for a jump bike!

It's fine for mountain bike riding. I've done 1856km offroad so far.

It's IPX7, so it's useable in the rain, and upto 1m deep for the bigger puddles you may go through.

The mount uses Cable ties, so it will mount on anything that you can get a cable tie around.

Again I'll say this, try www.easygis.co.za for the best prices and service.

I've even used my 305 K1 paddling and it's survived the odd swim perfectly. Still a little hesitant on putting it on the surf ski though... Salt water may be a little much.

Not crashed in ages.. since the new epic...

Ok so why due soouth selling for 6199??? Bit higg me thinks

The Edge 705 comes in four (I think) packages:

Edge 705

Edge 705 + Heatrate sensor

Edge 705 + Cadence sensor

Edge 705 + Heatrate sensor + Cadence sensor

The one for R6200 one is the last option with everything. Be careful you don't go for a 'great deal' and end up not getting what oyu expected.

EasyGIS mentioned above seem to have the best SA prices (R5800 for full package)
