Ok I love these tyres, have yet to puncture on them, they roll fast etc. BUT JEEZ they wear down and cut easily for me, heck the rear tyre have gone square after less than two months..... Have a bunch of small little cuts in mine, and this morning I noticed my rear wheel got a half a cm cut in it and the rear wheel. So going to keep the GP4000 for training until they are completely poked and get some other tyres to race on, don't want to take a change with the cut on my rear tyre at the 94.7. Anyone got any suggestions?

I don't get it. A few days/weeks ago there was a thread on here where everybody complained about the quality of these tyres. If it wasn't the bead comming loose it is how easy they get cut. As soon as someone ask which tyres they should get, everyone shouts in perfect harmony " GP 4000". Everybody give advise on their favourite tyres but still everybody goes for the 4000s.

If you are afraid your image will get tarnished, stick with Continental. Otherwise go for Maxxis. They are cheap and tough and can go up to 130psi.

Could not care less about image, reason I like the GP4000's are that they handle nicely and the great puncture resistance they have, but if I can get that from another tyre, at a lower cost then for sure I will go for them.

Yay! Maxxissssssss!!! Very efficient training tyres. Good price. And Cajees always seem to have too many of them, and you get good prices.

On my race wheels I just startted a set og GP4K's, and so far I'm very impressed. (Used to race Vittoria)

How much does the Mich Pro race 2's go for? I take it they are foldable?

yep - foldable - cost about the same as the GP4000.  morningside cycles has the best price.

just watch out that you dont get the pro 2 race LIGHT - these have no puncture protection.

pump them a little less than the recommended max & you will be flying!

Just came back from the 94.7 expo, looked all over for Mich Pro race 2's, could not find them anywhere, so bought some Vedestein Fortezza's based on the advice of a friend of mine that rides them as well, will see how they do.

While on the conti topic. I'm using the new Conti Speedking Mtb tyres. Two race down the road and allready some of the knobbies are starting to seperate from the tyre. Will have to keep a close eye on them.

Daemon: I've used two Vredestein Fortezza's for around 6 months now' date=' and they're great as a race tyre. Wouldn't mind another set...[/quote']

Well just read this review(http://www.pedalpushersonline.com/?CID=637) on them, seems to be good. I see they can go to 12 bar, use to ride my GP4000 at 8 bar, pumped them to 9bar will take a little spin on sat morning and see how they feel at 9. At what pressure did you ride yours?
