Mine has a "made in Spain" label on it and I'm staying with that Wink

Surely Shimano Deore gearing is the same as XTR if it is all made in China from the same factoryy...well that is if I'm following your thinking pattern...

That was the last year they were made there, the aluminium production is now outsourced to a company in the States.

ah, that explains the difference between our bikes. Yours has a "handbuild in spain" sticker while mine has a "made in Spain"

Shame this kinda article will never get published in a mainstream cycling mag - imagine the damage it would do to all those mega buck marketing / image driven 'hi end' products... 

 

The European automotive industry has had it's dose of reality with price fixing - this is exactly the kind of article which would make bicycle manufacturers think twice with the outrageous margins / mark up on 'premium brands'

 

Much of the cycling industry is owned by conglomerates anyway, Dorel etc, and just like BMW or Porsche, those who continue to make genuinely premium products in house will continue to thrive on the back of a quality of product and aspirational power created by the quality - anything else is just Fiat dressed as Ferrari, or should I say Taiwan Hodaka dressed as Bianchi.....................
