Its quite possible that i am missing something here, (due to being new to Mtb) but i cant seem to find any decent, (at all) trails in the bedfordview edenvale area.

Does any one here ride in these areas?

Hi Daniel

Edenvale/Bedfordview is 10-15 minutes away from Rietvlei where they have a number of trials for both beginners and the more technical oriented riders. There are 2 coffee shop's, bicycle shop, picnic area and birds and animals to view for the little ones.

Rietvlei is situated on Swartkoppies Road Alberton.

Thanks,

I am trying to find trails that i can ride too, i will figure  way through the back roads.

Just riding 20Kms to do the spruit which is not much more and is kinda boring.

Tackled the ridge between Bruma and linksfield this morning. Nice hill but its not a route, once you at the top, you got to turnaround.

Why not try the koppies - the ridge between Dawnview and Bedfordview? Take an Uzi. Also try the koppie by the driving range top of the ridge on the left hand side of the freeway to Boksburg. I've heard there's a trail there.

Otherwise, just do some hill training up and down AG de Wit.

Yeah, the Uzi will mess with my weight saving Smile

I have heard about the trail by the driving range which as i understand is a down hill course. Any info on this trail? cant seem to find it on the net.

When i was a lightie we once or twice took a hike on the ridge, that was before some guy got his throat slit there. Where we entered in the past is now fenced off, i would love to ride there though

Every Sat morning Edenglen Cycling has a ride that goes into the Sizwe Infectious Disease Reservation ...... quite nice.

Then there's also a lot out near Pomona, speak to Finish Line Cycles 'bout that one.

I used to ride in the Greenstone area, but them damn developers built houses, shops, offices, roads, huts 'n just about everything one can think of and in so doing destroyed a Cycling Sensiteve Area (CSA) with no objections from any of the tyre huggers!!

Go to www.team-edenglen.com for contact info. I rode Mtb & road with them quite a lot and there are routes to cater for all skills, and distances up to 40Km.

Hi Jack on.

Driving past Groenkloof nature reserve, I've seen a few cyclist training or just having a fun ride inside the reserve.

Has anyone got some information where to enter the reserve, can one use a Hybrid (dont have a mountain bike), how long is the route, cost ????

My wife and I would like to do some training whilst the son is playing cricket at Groenkloof campus.

Bye Jack

djvr groenkloof is a nature reserve that caters for mountain bikers they have alot of racing and stuff in there also people that ride there pay to ride not too sure how much but the entrance is on the road after the entrance to the groenkloof caravan park and fountains reserve

if you are coming from the east you take the slip road off the fountains circle to your left and follow the road over the bridge and it is the third entrance on your left cant really miss it

Thanks for all the info. So stuff does exist, awesome.

I certainly think an exploration ride is in order. We should hook somehting up soon, perhaps, two weekends time, as its CC this coming weekend.

The old mtb trial at Greenhills Golf place is still sort of there, but it isn't maintained at all and half the area has been turned into an office park.

There is quite a technical rocky descent at the start but the rest is easy.

My opinion ... not worth the schlepp!!

Heading out to Pomona area there are many routes to Bapsfontein which gives a 80km distance from Karaglen.
