So yesterday I start again in one of the later bunches and feeling great I get into a bunch that is moving at a good pace. We are just outside Wellington on a flat section of the course where we could realy make up good time before we get the climb outside Riebeeck Kasteel towards Malmesbury, when STUPIDITY wins the day!Ouch A rider that obviously do not even know even the basics, flicks the front guy in the bunch to pass him, then wanting us to pass him on the inside moves to the right and practically stops!! Needless to say 5 of us goes down at +- 42kmph.

My Helmet again saved my life! Clap Thanks Bell! Not the most expensive helmet out there, but boy it worked! Body flippen sore today but luckally no fractures

Glad you are ok. Take the helmet back to thalbs, Bell have a accident replacement policy. I paid R 345.00 for my new Sweep R via the policy. Sure beat the R1350. 00 for a new one.

That's why I stopped racing. Every race entry fee now has a mandatory fee to the relevant PPA. However, I have NEVER seen a PPA official give a talk or give any sort of education to riders. Things like peloton behaviour, braking, standing up and the other dangerous maneuvres get taught the Darwinian way.

I agree with you, but I realy enjoy the races, I am going to try and get my say first, I am quite capable of making things stink a bit for them and come tomorrow, the sh*t will fly! If it means I take the mike for a moment away from the prompter at the start so be it, but holy s, someone needs to do something about it! I agree with you its a Darwinian learning curve but someone needs to stand up, and I'm not going to be silent anymoreWink

exactly right there' date=' JB. It's too often a case of "tough, shoulda known better" or people excusing themselves because they "didn't know"

And i thought the "keep left, pass right" principle was a general road rule, also applied in shopping centres and airports worldwide...

except in the states or france. They're just strange.

or any other country where they drive on "the other" side of the road ...

whereas, people often make their own rules

Dun Man - sorry to hear of the prang. I won a Bell helmet yesterday in the Grace to Grace, yours for free. PM me for details - be warned it is a funny blue colour and has a peak...

Intern: That is such an awsome thing to do, it has resored what little faith I had in the hub as of late.

Well Dun Man I'm glad see here that you finished. I was the unfortunate rider just behind the idiot who decided to sway right and indicate me to past left. Myself and another rider had the sad song to sing as you all got up and rode away, luckly not out as our bikes were unridable after that. Can tell you this much it was a freeken long walk back :(

Besides my ass still hurting like hell and a broken bike my Garmin is still in ok order (I think). Image below will show that we were serious doing good time and I think we would have have a great ride (Yes thats right dead stop at 38km/h).
