I've always been a die hard "there have to be some clean riders out there" kinda guy...BUT...it's getting rather silly isn't it??

All the positives in the recent months (Ricco, Piepie, Schummie, Kohl etc etc etc etc etc) have all come through ONE type of EPO.

Logic tells me that if half the bunch have been bust for JUST ONE type of drug when there are hundreds of illegal substances out there what are the rest of the guys on? Unless of course nobody is taking anything except CERA....yeah right!

I'm just sick and tired of drug bust after drug bust after drug bust.

I feel a bit punch drunk if you know what I mean. Like I'm lying in the foetal position and 300 pro cyclists are kicking me and laughing.

It was announced that the 2008 Peking Olympics urine/blood samples will be kept till 2016 and submitted to the most advanced tests available...

Many heroes could turn into zeros... ditto to cycling...

Until now there was one drug that could be safely administrated without fear of getting tested for, that was EPO.  Now CERA makes that impossible.

EPO is dead, long live the next drug.

I wonder how many local riders dope and never get found out. In the pro tour they all get tested. In local races they hardley ever test and I am not sure if they are able to test for all illigals.

How many people see these guys perform only to find out later that they were doping. Nowing this it might look like an option to dope knowing that you might never get tested.

Cera is now dead too, hematide (epo of 4th generation) and epomimetica (same drugs in pills) will surface in a few months/years... much harder to trace though...

AFLD done with Tour testing ? no more cases

The French anti-doping agency AFLD has concluded its re-testing of the 2008 Tour de France samples. Bernhard Kohl was the last to be caught and no other cases have been found, L'Equipe reported.

There were a total of 30 samples re-tested specifically for CERA, after suspicious blood values had been observed.

I've always wondered why drug companies don't put markers in their drugs. Finding cheats would be a lot easier!

Surely it's a good idea for "normal" users too - doctors can then  ensure dosing is correct or find out what drugs people have taken when they're unable to tell doctors (after accidents or if the patient is unconcious etc).

In terms of making this a happy thread - these latest drug busts have finally pushed me from mild disappointment to naive bliss. From now on I'm just not going to care who is cheating and who is not. All cycling will be happy pictures with no depth - kinda like "reading" a book by only looking at the pictures Wink

Indeed - drugs were close at hand Confused

The drugs help produce the red blood cells and cos patients build up resistance over time, they need to invent more advanced drugs... these products leak into the cycling community years before the official release...

eagle : as far as i know (I might be speaking out of my butt)' date=' there is no test for EPO in SA sports, never mind CERA[/quote']

WADA specifies a set of tests to be performed on a sample.  The same tests are performed in Paris, Sydney or Bloemfontein.  Our testing lab is rated third or fourth best in the world.
