Starting to look for some lights.

Have read the threads on making your own and it is an option but would like to know who is using what and how you rate them. How do they perfrom on night trails, what kind of battery life. Any other pros/cons that you can think of. Oh and price.

Nightlightning Iblaast II; 1 x bar mount

NightLightning 4Led Prototype, helmet mount

2 x 1000lumen

2 x 640gr system weight

run time of 5hrs for each system at 1000lumen

run time of 10hrs each at 500lumen

Current pricing for Iblaast II is R4800-00.

I also have 1 x Lupine Edison 10, rand value R11000

900 lumen for 6 hrs 720gram system weight can be either helmet or bar mounted. Kicks ass but it's HID therefore thebulb is fragile.

2X Nightlightning Iblaast II = much better value

er ya but I only paid about GBP320 for them since I received them as part of a sponsorship deal with the LBS in Chester, UK.

They cost GBP600-00 in 2003....

At the time there was nothng that could touch it..

Hence, the Iblaast II is way better value. Also the LEDs can be upgraded as new technology arrives, the driver board is custom designed and made so the efficiency is high and the price is right.

Some new hardware will be available in the new year, i.e bar mount and helmet mount which will improve versatility. it kicks ass.

30W HID for roughly R3500. OK, that was 6 months ago, who knows how much it would be now?

I bought the flood lens option. Single-track in front of you remains lit even if you turn the handlebar 90 degrees. Pisses off the riders in front of you, as they can't see where they are going. Battery lasts about 3 hours. Total weight is about 830g. Very robust, solid, well-made.

Have these...

They do an OK job, can't complain, light the place up and I can see the trail fine for night racing. Use them on bright on both lights, would not use them any dimmer on a trail I did not know well.
