Zoo Cookie Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 also my second 94.7. last year = 3:58 so anything better than that would be allright with me. better seeding than last year - so that should help.
davidd Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 better seeding than last year - so that should help. Zoo, what time are you starting?
Auris Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Did a 2h50 from I group last year - This year starting in G so hopefully can crack a sub 2h50!
widget Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 3.08 last year' date=' this year i will be lucky for 4.08. [/quote'] Hah, Hah, come now Scotty, I know you will do better than that. Me, I dont know, or care, racing has lost all its interest for me, if the weathers bad, I wont even ride, if its mediocre I will ride with my wife, if its great and I feel interested, I will take my chances in the Vets 50+ and see what the race holds.
Zoo Cookie Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 better seeding than last year - so that should help. Zoo' date=' what time are you starting?[/quote'] 7:15. not to early and not to late - just right.
djvr Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Did a 3:30 last year on a new bike with the wrong gear ratio for me. Have sorted out the gears so will try for a 3:15
Baaisikilist Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 It's my 1st 94.7 (and road race for that matter), I'm on a MTB (the same one i'll be racing the 40km MTB event on the sat with), in baggies, starting in group OB and am devilishly handsome. What sorda time would be good...? I'm hoping for a 3:30... That realistic...?
Minion Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 If I can ride like I did on Saturday, then a 2:45 looks like a possible time for me
brianj Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 anyone around Y that reckons on doing 3:00 - 3:15 ? Am interested ? only seeded CC. But that is not a fair reflection. Cycle Challenge' date=' with their indices calculations, did not include the cape races, except the Argus, despite having promised to include all long league races of the cape. This gives a serious advantage to the Gautenger?s whose local races are mostly included in the seeding. Only started cycling a year ago but have done all the race I could. Presently seeded in the <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cape at an indices of +-28. Have been practicing during winter. So 3h10 seems good to me. Might catch-up with you. Will be wearing my Cape Town Outrider kit = blue + white. [/quote'] Good thing, I will look out for you coming up. I will be wearing Stanlib kit, as yet unseen, but rumoured to be black and white this year. At almost 100kg, you will not likely miss me. Probably see you around witkoppen hill or just after.

Not completely sure i'm going to do it, I've also reached the stage where its not the be all.
slowpoke Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 hmmmm - i think i'm gonna have a different target time for each time i go around... and in what capacity i'm going around each time... and whether i stop to help out at the intersection hmmm.... is there anyone who can make me a hubber "flag" to pop on my bike so that you bunch will actually greet me for a change instead of looking like through me like i'm a piece of rubbish? yes, mine is the ONLY bright yellow SV650... *sulk*

Just a question, can you hear us thou the helmet and the sound of the bike?I try to say thank you to the marshals but those on the bikes don't respond i thought it was just the helmet.
davidd Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I try to say thank you to the marshals but those on the bikes don't respond i thought it was just the helmet. I say thanks to everyone which is probably why my times are so pathetic, or maybe because i'm so slow, i have time to say thanks?!
slowpoke Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Gman, a wave normally works i have been known to chat to cyclists while marshalling... ask anyone who's been on one of the big Hub rides

Are you gonna be on the Heckler with slicks? I'm sure the baggies won't slow you down much.
