Tyre sealant

Elvis

Recommended Posts

I'm a roadie doing a bit of Mountain biking over the last few weeks. Love it. But I hate the flats. What's the best tyre sealant to use, and how much do you put in. I am currently using the green slime stuff, but I already had two flats...

Do a cheap tubless convertion. Do a search on the hub. You'll get less punctures and enjoy you're riding so much more. Otherwise try sludge sealant...the yellow bottle. Those stuff will seal anything.

Stan's is crap! Get the tubeless conversion, but lash Oko in there. That's the good stuff! Lasts longer than Stans and no flats for gwunzillions of happy miles.

Ok, sorry. I haven't done a gwunzillion miles yet. Still no problems though.

Also tried Joe's on another set of wheels, but found it didn't hold pressure as well.

Hi Henri,

I use Joe's sealant and find it to be good stuff. I still ride tubes as I cannot warrant the cost to benefit ratio of tubeless tyres. Hope this helps ya

Oko, is that the stuffs name. Are there other tubeless conversions than Stans. Thats R550 for two rims strips and a bottle of sealant - crazy!

I vote Oko aswell but put a bit of stans or joes in there so that it runs freely in the tyre and doesnt gunk up in one spot and cause the wheel to have a heavy spot

also the Choopless conversion as explained here on the hub is a great idea i use it and so far no problems i also have connections fro those ever scarce 20" road bike valve tubes smiley20.gif

Oko is cool, I use it on the hondazooki, for the MTB I filled both my tubes with :

And I carry a can with me... no puntures yet... (had one slow one, but the gunk sealed it anyway)
