But did they have a removable core?

I think they are the schrader type....not presta.

I'm thinking of perhaps having my rims drilled to fit scrader...any comments or suggestions?

Or should I just fill from the side like JB mentioned in earlier post...seems easy enough?

Cassie, they are schrader type - did not have time to check them out as wife was getting irritated. If you have time, go to Sportsman and they are on the 2nd shelf by the bicycle section.

Will also check if Williams has got (or can get) as Sportsmans seems to be a self-service place only.

My rims are schrader so no issue for me.

Got 2 x 20" tubes from Williams R40 each (Sportsmans R45) - glad to

support my LBS.  They have plenty in stock. GIANT brand which means Kenda

Have mounted the first tube, no problem, will wash and

finish in the morning. Lucky for me my Alex rims have some really solid plastic tyre tape (or whatever) rim tape that protect the tube against the rims.

BTW if you do not have a valve core remover, then you can use a bend nose plier, works like a charm:

Okay, so I abandoned my Ghetto tubeless. I was trying to mount the bead for my cheapie Kenda tyre and notices that the rubber around the valve was overlapping the lip. My concern is that the beading will not sit properly there and might come off.

I will try and sand it down with my dremel (awesome tool), but since I use my bike to commute I can only do this over weekends.

Ended up squirting some RAD006 slime in my tubes for the time being. Made my own valve-core remover courtesy of my dremel and old philips screwdriver. Took me less than 5 minutes to make and cost me nadda. Bought a 60ml syringe from the chemist (R10) and was all set.

My neighbour, who is a respected rep for a well known bicycle component company, warned about using certain harsh chemicals with tubes and tyres. Personally he uses tyre liners on his MTB & Tandem, and yes I'm aware of the rolling effect it has.

My McGyver schreudar valve-core remover:

Turtlek, do you still have the Bmx tube with presta valves?

don't need the removable core type as using  syringe and silicone hose is much easier than removing valve.

with tyre level lift tyre bead 4 mm of rim base(not over lip) and just push the hose inside.

I have found a local supplier for the 20" tubes with pesta valves @ R35 each.

not with removable cores, but even the fixed ones is hard to find.

Where in the eastern cape are you. A few months ago I searched but came up with nothing in PE. Ended up getting them from CRC.

Happy to report that my Ghetto conversion now did the K2C and a couple training rides, and no problems whatsoever! ClapClapI love it! Valve tool also works great to remove the core of the valve to add some Stan's. Get it from any Midas.
