I heard that HR's mom is quite nice ........

So what you are saying is that in this instance, the apple fell a bloody long way away from the tree?

Reason not to have it in March - its at the peak of track season.

Reason to have it in June - its in the middle of road season.

June is the middle of road season?  Maybe in Europe.

Why does the SA season mirror Europe?  I never get that.  Track is meant for winter when the weather is bad and road for summer.  Those Aussies apparently are smarter than us.  They get it' date=' we don't.
[/quote']

According to UCI rules all nations must have their champs on the same weekend, normally end of June.

But you can ask for a different date like most Southern Hemisphere nations does.

The Aussies have theirs in January.  All the pro's are back on holiday, the locals are in the middle of summer racing.  It works.

I know it doesn't rain in Gauteng in June, but it is miserable in the Cape and is it really the best time for nationals?  What do the REAL pro's think?  They should be the ones to ask as you want the stars to come out for this one.  Not us wannabees and hasbeens.

No this time Im not Im saying that you make alot of noise with no substance attached to it. Why dont you tell us what your cycling CV is like and all the events you have cmpeted in and won andwhy you are not a funrider like the rest of The Hub as you seem to look down on everyone here cause they are not of "your" caliber.

Really dude you remind me of those little white scruffy dogs that just yap yap yap all the time then when you turn they run like sh*t.

Post your achievements if you have any or are you to scared to show us you actually alot of talk? Please slap it in my face and make me look like an idiot and show me your pedigree.

You know what, fine, i never insulted anyone or looked down on anyone... if you insult me, dont expect me to keep my mouth shut... I just give my opinion like everyone else on this site... I never said i am some kind of champion and frankly i have not won big south african classics, as that does not get you contract in Europe...

got a bronze sa tt champs as junior

got a silver sa road champs as junior

3rd junior tour

won team comp and the TTT

won the last stage there as well

went to world champs and a tour in canada as junior for the sa team.

got a silver in sa tt champs u/23 as a first year was 4th in the rr that year.

crashed in belguim and broke my arm, came back that year to still win best young rider jersey at the tour of reunion

won the points jersey in the tour de maurice

won best young rider there as well

won the tt there as well

was 2nd in GC after my team mate took overall on the last stage...

then i fell ill after my 1st year u/23 with glandular fever and was told to take a year off from cycling...

took me about 5 months to come back on form after i started riding again...

that year i won u/23 TT champs and came 2nd in the KOM at the Tour de Eden behind Ryan...

then got a amateur contract for the feeder team of Francaise des jeux... when i got there my eyes opened a bit with regards to what goes on there and that is when i decided that this is not the way i want to earn my money... So i stopped...

i know i have not won my 350 races... but i have done my fair share of racing...

Mrs Colonel, can you please take away your man's tackle?  He's just hooked a big one and it's running!  We're never going to hear the end of it.

We are trying to have a semi-civilised discussion about the SA champs here

Congrats on all your achievements.Clap

Now you can start racing again and leave the funriders to do what they love doing. Having fun.

When you race at that level we should not be a worry to you but rather the people you race against.

Should you race nationals next year: Good Luck and God Speed.

Yo Anton - where have you learnt to write such good English - you were the Afrikaans (Rooi Kop)kid in Canada - (I was your asst manager their) amongst other events.

So are you really going to start racing again? Good luck with the training!

For all you Hubbers I can assure you Antons schedule of result are quite true so show some respect!

One of the biggest problems in Cycling over the past 15 years is that we have not had any local rider to admire like we did in the old days (Alan van Heerden, Willie Englebrecht, Andrew McLean ate).

For the sport to grow even bigger we need more local super stars in cycling! Or maybe a the petrol increasing in price 5 fold!

Very true.

But to be a "local super star" you need to be admired by people.  Normally that goes with being humble and well mannered.
