Its officialy closed, will hopefully be open in early December. On weekends there is a watchful dude stopping cyclists from jumping the fence. So I dont slow down, just bunny hop.

A couple of months ago I helped a tourista lift his bike over the fence, so I felt no fear as I rode up from Noordhoek (short cutting a long training ride).  Climbed over/through the lower fence but when we got to the top there was a reception comittee that pointed to the CCTV camera and said they wanted to arrest us.  A cyclist on their side of the fence chimed in agreeing how ridiculous that idea was and they tried to arrest him, but he jumped on his pedals.  After 20 minutes of negotiation and radio calls to the big boss in the green shipping container control centre we were allowed to proceed on our way.  But yes there are fences and yes it is technically illegal.  Riding up to the high point from Hout Bay side is still a great ride...
