? my wifes (Jo) Garmin Edge 305 lying on the N4 about 5km after the turnaround point ? about 2km past the second bridge ? in the grass left of the tarr. There are no obvious land marks on that stretch of the N4 so can't be more specific!

<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

So 45km into the race going downhill Jo?s Garmin broke off the mount (it was clipped on properly as only half the mount is left) and flew across the other side of the N4 (jumped all lanes ? incl. yellow lane) in the grass. She looked for it after the turnaround point and couldn?t see it? She asked the marshals and back-up vehicles to have a look ? not sure if they did!

I know the chances of finding it are slim? but if you don?t ask?

Are we the first to experience a failure of the Garmin mount bracket? Jo was really upset as she loved the unit? Perhaps we?ll just buy a Polar watch next?

The weather was too miserable to go look for it!

Did anyone see it or can anyone give me contact details of Andre (race organiser) to check lost/found property?

Thanks for your help!

Howsit Flemish - broken clip not uncommon; you will often see the Garmin of a Euro-pro attached with a cable tie for extra fortification (absolutely necessary for MTB). I tape mine on with a few wraps of electrician's tape to make sure it doesn't go walkabout. Hope it turns up.

Thanks Don - maybe the Garmin dealers should have told us that!! It's an expensive loss... Jo got 5th, but was too upset to care about her result. I got 6th in VA's - a good warmup for 94.7!

Thanks sammajoor - will contact them!

Thanks Spinnekop! Nice meeting you too...

Will contact them, I don't think the Garmin sponsorship is confirmed yet!

Heard about the loss of an engagement ring - I'll stop complaining about a stupid gps unit Wink

I hope it turns up!

Two things:

1) If my wife cycled and watched her R4000 device bounce into the grass without stopping to pick it up I'd deduct it from the divorce settlement.

2) If I was following her (your wife) and she didn't bother looking for it then I would have a Garmin.

Sorry bud, but if you can't be bothered to pick it up why bother asking ....AngryShocked

Eish....eina boet...

Sometimes.....but only SOMETIMES there are more important things in life than a Garmin.

So if you don't know what the circumstances were, why bother commenting??????
