MTB Hubs

Need advice on Hope MTB hubs.

I'm planning on buying the Hope Pro 2 Disc Front & Hope Pro 2 Disc Rear.

How do these Hope hubs compare to Shimano XT's?

Any alternatives to go for?  I'm currently using Shimano Deore M525's disc's front & rear. I need an upgrade!

I'm not all that fond of the Hope hubs after Lilo's broke into a few pieces and could not be put together again. Between the two of us we've not have any problems with American Classic Mtb Hubs AND DT Swiss Hubs.

Do it.....even if only because they are so damn sexy!

Was at Bowman's in CPT two weeks ago when the owner was finishing up a set of gold Pro II laced to Stan's Race(I think....the really really light ones) rims. Total weight....1300 grams!

That rear hub is so damn loud....makes a gorgeous sound and looks beautiful!

really ? And why would you say that ?

LOL You doing a JB on me ?

Okay here goes......

It's my personal opinion ! Also confirmed by numerous reviews on MTBR.com

And I'm a sucker for anything machined out of Billet Aluminium.

Good enough reason ?

LOL

Weak but plausible! It does give serious brownie points at the mugg and sprocket on coffee rides .......

I LOVE the Hope Pro II hubs. Sooooooo smooth and really strong. They are awesome. Only thing you might not like about the rear Hope Pro II hub is the really loud noise it makes when it freewheels. It's almost obnoxious! That said, it takes really fast and is solid. I've had the Shimanos before, and will never go back. My bike 100% NON shimano and I'm proud of that :D

Oh and don't listen to the boys who wanna know WHY you need new hubs. Of course you need new hubs, the ones you have are Shimano!

No I need solid proof not this load of bull u giving me !! We all know MTBR are a bunch of x-roadies !

Well then I'm afraid that you are going to have to wait for JB to give more solid proof as to why the pawls & ratchets of the Pro II's are superior to the mechanism found inside the XT's

Happy ?

Dirt-Rider...

In your opinion is the Shimano M525's "good" enough?  My current setup is M525's & WTB Speed Disc's.
IMO it's bottom of the range on weight & quality.  It was good enough to start of with...but I want to upgrade.

I've got Chris King hubs, but will be upgrading to Industries Nine as build a stiffer & lighter wheel outherwise very happy with the Chris Kings if you can afford them, get them. You only need a 2.5mm allen key to service them and they have a 5 year warranty
