KlapperKnop Posted January 11, 2007 Share Okay so to put things in perspective and summary: It is a busy, narrow road with no shoulder (Nellmapius)Cyclists going up hill and swerved slightly.Silver Merc hoots (rightful or not?)Cyclist allow motorist past Cyclist gives the finger (Maybe not a good image for cycling! This will lead to conflict with motorists - Just a wave would have possibly been more appropiate) Cyclists and Motorists need to accomodate each other on our roads. Mutual respect cost nothing ...... Personally as a cyclists, I would be the first to compromise the situation as my life (at my age) is more important to my family than fighthing with a car/motorist ... I was riding with someone who "threw" some choice hand signs, some too vulgar to repeat in this forum. [/quote'] must say that i cant really blame the guy - the bunches are getting huge in the mornings & the guys are starting to take up 1.5 lanes instead of just one - very dangerous in my opinion. very soon one of us is going to be hit by a car / bus / taxi! there was a big crash this morning on william nicol just before the republic road intersection. someone slipped into that stupid metal thingy they have over the bridge to compensate for the road expanding & contracting - he took at least 4 other guys down with him. as you know this stretch of metal is well into the second lane from the left - luckily there was not a car / bus / taxi behind them! Pantani Posted January 11, 2007 Share Good, thanks for saying it because I didn't want to. From where I was riding, the people who were being hooted at were clearly in the wrong lane. What surprised me was the outburst that followed. Quite honestly I think it's White cyclists that get all upset. I don't shout at anybody when I'm riding, I'm still shell shocked from Apartheid! Pantani Posted January 11, 2007 Share Yeah, you're right scotty, so anyway, why are people going on and bemoaning the behaviour of the Juniors when I witnessed it first hand this morning with some Senior cyclists giving motorists more than just the finger. I'm a grown man and have been exposed to the range of vulgarities in my time, but I'm still trying to figure out some of the hand signs I saw this morning!
