Not sure what to look for in a shoe (besides my foot, which is in my mouth). The type of riding I do is generally sissy girl stuff that isnt too technical and can consist of plenty of walking. I enjoy the endurance stuff and plan on doing a few more TransB's still. My Sportmans Worehouse Olympics are stuffed.......had then since I started riding almost two years ago. All advice, slagging and jokes will be welcome but would also appreciate any technical info on how one actually selects the right shoe.

If you keep them in your garage' date=' you godda watch out for parktown prawns, they like to creep in n set up camp in the toe area of shoes...[/quote'] You plonker! we dont get those things here......they would be mugged and eaten, they know better! Now answer my main question.... LOL

as HR says - squishy bugs and stuff, and spiders....

also make sure you've shaken all the mud and stones out before you wear it again....

hmmm, ok, seriously - if you're gona do a lot of walking look for something with a slightly softer sole or with velcro fastening. the latter is easier to put on and take off for the hike-a-bike bits and walking in a very stiff soled shoe is not easy.

i love the 2 little studs on my DMT's for when i wak the really steep bits - they do give excellent traction.

You serious HR? How do they compare to something that Shimano' date=' Nike and Addidas offer?[/quote']

look, there are really great shoes out there, but the olympics are great value for money. i have also found the specialized bg shoes to be a great fit and comfortable.

[/quote'] DMt's? Is that a brand name? what about the type that look more like a running shoe? what are the pros and cons?

yep, DMT is a brand. but honestly as HR says, Olympics are great. the only reason i have the (pricey in comparison) DMT's was that they were an emergency purchase one sunday morning... because my mutt ate my one Olympic... and NO shoe on this planet is Sasha-proof (NOTHING is Sasha-proof)

I have been using shimano mtb shoes, theyre ok but they are a bit heavy though.

My Specialized road shoes are awesome, the tech thats gone into the footbed deatil and manufacture is amazing - my next pair of mtb shoes will be sepcialzed - awesome, comfortable and light. expensive though.
