Bike insurance

Some idiot drove into the back of my car last week with my Specialized S-Works mtb on my bike rack. Frame broke clean off in two places, XTR crank and disk rotor bended. And yes, bike was not insured. Would like to change that asap with my new frame on it's way.

 

Can anyone recommend a decent insurance company specializing in bike insurance. I'm currently awaiting a quote from Cyclesure but would like to get a few more.

"Pedal Care" is is another option just beware of the dreaded assessor and make sure you insure your bike for the right amount to avoid any tears when claiming.

Used African Independent with no problems when I had to claim.  Now using OutSurance cos way cheaper and heard a few good reports of people having no problems with quick claims.

I'm with outsurance at the moment and waiting for a claim to be finalised on a stolen bike.  Extremely difficult and frustrating process. They currently are not entertaining the claim as they are of the opinion that my bike was not properly secured to the rack.. Watch this space.

I agree...good luck when claiming from Santam!  Now with Allsure (Mutual & Federal) & payout in 4 days when I had a claim.

 

Covered for training, racing, theft, etc.

Got my quote from Cyclesure - R100 for R15 000 bike. I've send my details to PedalCare, will see what they come back with. Looks like their cover is pretty comprehensive as well.

 

I agree, rather pay a bit more and have a painless claim at the end of the day.

The problem with most insurance companies (Mutual and Federal, Outsurance, Samtam etc) is that they will insure your bike EXCEPT on race day. I dont know about you but for me that simply isn't good enough. I went to Cyclesure, my bikes are still covered on raceday with them.

Outsurance do now offer insurance for utilising the bike even on race day.  Previously they wouldn't insure it for any usage.  The bggest problem with these guys is they go out of their way not to pay the claim.  My experience anyway.

We're on Santam, and they had no quibble paying out for my dad's bike when it got stolen, they didn't ask any questions wether it was locked whatever, asked for a quote for a replacement, on tuesday, and on friday the lbs phoned my dad to come pick up his bike.
