Thought I'd do a bit of a ride report after yesterdays ride:

First thing you notice is that the bike does NOT like to go uphill. Like, not at all! The geometry and low seat position make for very difficult pedalling unless you're standing. But once you hit downhill it's a whole new game! The low center of gravity makes the bike stick to the corners like mad. Where my 'Goose always feels like it's floating on top of the berms, this bike feels like it is IN the berm.

The flat pedals will be a big thing to get used to. When you get airborne you need to point your toes down, otherwise the bike and you go in different directions. And don't think you'll just quickly climb an object by pulling your front wheel up and then pulling your back wheel up with your feet! It will end in pain!

The rigid fork is another challenge. Only once you have a rigid fork do you realise how much even an 80mm fork does. I did manage to get the hang of it fairly quickly, but still a rude awakening!

Overall it's a very different ride to what I'm used to, but I love it! I'll be visiting the park with it often!

I joined the guys from trailriding.co.za for a ride in the CBD about 3 weeks ago and it was a blast! Some great stuff in some of the parks in the CBD, getting chased away by security, lots of punctures, a few guns...

That pretty much cemented my lust for a play bike! LOL

that bike looks even better close up .

Thanks! The seller sent me cellphone pics of the bike which didn't look great, so I was considering stripping the paint off and polishing it, or spraying it, but once I saw it in person I just fell in love with it! Now I just need a red & yellow flame helmet!

Are there any skate parks around that allow bikes? That could make for some good riding as well!

i think the boogaloos at festival mall does. maybe we can plan an outing to the germiston bowl, or the little skatepark tucked away in troyeville.

Used to ride in trashers in Pretoria with my jump mtb, and boogaloos at the waterfront in randburg.....the ball bowl thing they have is super fun, just to see how high you can ride through it.

Randburg one is nice and close! I just need to find my "feet" a bit more on the bike, then we can arrange something!

HR we can definitely make a plan to do the stuff on your side of the world as well, just need to find a car with a petrol tank that's big enough to make it there! Tongue

No better place to find your feet than a skatepark ;)
