Oh I get it!  I've been dumped for mighty spoke and the reserve.... NIIIICE one Andrew. I can't believe you'd choose skinny wheels & SBR over fat ones & Breedts Nek smiley3.gif

Well done Os! Good achievement!

What riding did the rest of you do yesterday?

GO, I was having a relaxing morning of shopping at Cyclelab and the Design Quarter. The market there was excellent! Bought some nice salami, cheese, coffee and samoosas. Then had a fabulous lunch at Mythos! Really great food! And did a small bit of riding in the afternoon.

Yo guys, thanks for the ride Saturday. It was a great one despite the wind. nice to finally meet the hubber from another planet. Hey Predictor, good to meet ya dude.

Kieran, you will have to live with the nick until you get faster than me. Then you can hand it back. Before then you have to make it up the steps solo.

Saturday I went to help the Oxman get set up for his 24 hr epic. Spent some time there and met a few new Hubbers. (Holy Roler, Rad004 (not too sure if his nick), Cat-I and a few others. Good to meet some of you and to see some old friends again.

Oxman phoned me on Saturday night because he had Nappy rash. Go figure. He needed Fissan paste. (Cheaper and as effective as Chammy cream.)

After the heavens had shed a load of water, the 24 hr got back underway and they even had to make course mods because of the extreme conditions.

To all who took part of the 24 hr, I still think you're all nuts but you have my respect dudes. That is not an easy thing to do.

I overslept slightly yesterday and rode like mad to get to Xumbugs on time. Missed the fast bunch and thought since it was supposed to be a recovery ride, I would ride with the "B" bunch.

Well, to say I got frustrated would be an understatement. I ended up leaving them behind and chased hard to catch up with the racing snakes.

By the time I got to the bridge, I had got within about 500 m of the group but had zip left for the final chase and trip up the steps.

Decide on the bridge that going up the stpes solo was not smart due to all the bike jackings so waited five minutes for the  "B" bunch. Damn, four of the group outclimbed me up the steps and I ended up in no-mans land again, between the 4 who broke and the rest of the gang.

Went past Rietvlei to see how th guys were doing in the 24 hour. Chatted to Mux, Delboy, Riaan and Ox.

Then got a call later from one very ironless Ox. He was exhausted and needed help to get his camp packed up.

He crashed and burned on my couch for the rest of Sunday Arvie.

Was a great cycling weekend for some, milestones made and lessons learned by others.

Fissan was the only thing I could think of that will act live a  chamois cream, and that will be readily available on a Saturday evening.

I was utterly spent on Sunday afternoon. So much so, that I just wanted to sit down, irrespective of whether it was in the sun or shade...

Have to admit that couch was the best sleeping quarters I had the whole weekend. That nap was more like a black out than sleep. It went down VERY WELL.

Thanks again for the hospitality Slaveman. I could not believe the time when I left in the end! It really did not feel that late....

Well done OX you da man!! To all the hubbers thanks for and awesome ride on Sat. I loved it and it did me good to be out there with some like minded people.

For Yesterday, I went to bed on Sat evening ready for the double but when I woke up on Sun I just knew it would not be fun.

Make no mistake it was a great day and the legs was fine but the mindset was not right.

I did quite a lot of chores around the house and went ten pin bowiling yesterday night with family and friends and finished with "something fishy" like in the food.

Best ride I did in quite some time.

They say in hunting that sometimes the best shot is the one not taken.

I must say I am ready for the next weeks of riding.

Thanks again for Sat guys we should do this again and it was great meeting you all.

OX you still da man

predictor, thanks but not sure what I did for the repeated accolades. I up ended somewhere in the middle of the pack. Definitely somewhat unremarkable...

Agteros...respect dude. Pity I didnt see you there. Would have gladly helped you pack the stuff away!

I saw Wendell Bole (CycleHub) passed out under his gazebo! I was told by his wife he'd done 17laps?! Thats hectic!

Well finishing in the middle of the pack, and even riding, with low iron deserves accolades! Definitely remarkable achievement! That fact that you went to ride it is an achievement in itself! From what I have read it seemed like quite a route!

BigBen could give us an idea of how the course was as well as a few others who rode. In fact i think a write-up of a typical lap would be interesting to he uninitiated among us. (Maybe Holy, being the journo, would like to tackle this one.)

Not only did Ox enter the event, and complete the required 24 hour period of being there, he also did so in some rather tough conditions.

It chucked down late afternoon on Saturday and parts of the course were flooded requiring a course modification.

In truth, all the praticpants deserve accolades for their dedication (read as insane application) to the task and for going the distance. However, the ironless Ox deserves special mention since it would have been a big challenge for him and his low iron count. Since he failed to comply with my suggested diet of several bottles of nails and two Disprin for the reultant pain, he only has himself to blame.smiley5.gif

Oxman, take a bow and enjoy your moment of glory. It was well deserved man.smiley32.gif

Cat-I did quite well in her classification earning herself a prize. smiley32.gif

For their dedication to the fun and support aspect of the event, I would like to mention Holy Roller and his team of loonies like Delgado, Muxie and several others. smiley2.gif They definitely added to the overall ambience while applying themselves with unfailing dedication to increasing the share price of Namibia Breweries.

Thanks for the Boerie roll there Delboy. It hit the spot scot.  As did the Pironi.

Those "Ites" make some good cars, good bikes and good beer. Pity about the Conagos though.smiley17.gif
