all this talk about tri's is making me tired.

realized again why whenever I do participate in a Tri, its in a team, and I only complete 1 leg!!

Owl, maybe you ought to include me in some of these interval sessions - at this stage of the fight I need all the help/assistance/advice I can get. (and yes I am petrified of Kieran kicking my fat ass)

We did some real good intervals a couple of weeks ago on Midvaal racecourse.

Cool place to do this.

I am seriously working on my running legs at the moment and will be doing some swimming over the weekend.

Also my 17th anniversary on 30th and the reason for not doing berge and dale.

All my road rides will be in preperation only and not too much serious racing for the next 12 weeks and 2 days.

Hey hummy let me know sometime and we can go for some open water swimming at Bass Lake.

I have no issue sitting with you and sharing all I know with you. (not much by the way smiley9.gif)

OX is spot on with brick sessions as it takes a bit of time to get the running legs working after a good ride and you need to training 1 brick session a week at least

Thanks Os. Race is draft legal but the champs race is a closed section and we start at 10:45 where as the normal guys start @ 10 so I'm rather far behind them. The reason for this apparently is that if we do draft someone its of our own age group. So the swim I'll manage bit worried about the bike as i always draft. But we'll see.

Owl I might take your offer up for some of the interval sessions once this one is done (think we slightly close to be cramming things in now). But would love to sit with you and learn a few of your secrets.

Predictor, been wanting to do an open water swim for a while but slightly nervous about jumping into the Lake by myself. I'm generally free anytime, I'm assuming weekends are better for you? BTW Where is Bass Lake? smiley5.gif

SUre you know slightly more things than i do, been doing this for longer than me. And your distances are much more intense smiley11.gif

Do have a brick session during the week, Wednesday to be specific, usually do run/cycle/short rest/run/cycle. This alright? Doesn't feel like much of a brick.

Congrats on 17th Predictor!

Humming Bird - BRICK sessions are when you get a backpack and fill it with BRICKS! Then you go for a run/cycle/no rest/run/cycle!!!

So how was the weekend's riding? What did you guys and lady do?

I did the Berge en Dale race. Was a fantastic race! According to provisional results I got 20th in the A group. Because of a split between the start and Sterkfontein Mental Hospital one of the Cyclelab Race Team riders even asked me if I can help them. But then it seems like the dropped race team riders managed to get back into the group. The one part was hard in the cross wind. A group of about 9 of us formed after we were dropped from the very front group. Then about halfway up the climb out of the dip at Toadburry Hall (just after turning right into Beyers Naude from that cradle road) I rode away from the group. This was roughly 12.5km from the finish. As far as I know one rider tried to stay with me but couldn't. Further along Beyers I picked up another A rider from New Horizons who just sat on my wheel and did almost no work!!! The times he was on the front his pace was too slow so I just went back to the front. I didn't want to be caught by the group I had left. I stayed away all the way to the finish and dropped the New Horizons rider in the last few kilometres. Time was 2:52. Winning time it seems was 2:27.

Thanks Cat-i!

I so wanted to ride this morning but when I woke up to get ready I just knew that my legs were not going to make it and need a rest day. Just how Nancy Drew's felt yesterday. Hope you had a good ride!

Good result there yesterday Andy. You've missed out on a seriously cool but taxing ride this morning though. I did the full 90km on the MTB (right up to the N4 and back) It translated into 1300m of vertical ascent!

Together with the BnD yesterday I have done 191km this weekend. My furthest EVER for a weekend.
