Some of you might have gotten this in the mail the last yew days...

A woman from Soweto rented a Citroen C4 in JHB. She drove from JHB to Bloemfontein ..   Approximately 220km from JHB the car stopped still in 1st gear!! SHE THOUGHT IT WAS AUTOMATIC!

Attached the insurance photos of the engine and the bonnet.

Looking at the number plates I'm not so sure this is in South Africa, but if it is, take note of "Soweto" and "Woman"...

No where can I read that it's a black women. It can be a coloured wome aswell or even white. Johnny Clegg lived in Soweto when he tried to make a statement way back when.

It is obvious that didn't happen here, yet someone tweaks the story saying a woman specifically from Soweto, or black in a subtle way. A subtle racist. Why not a woman from Joburg, in general? Because you wouldn't get the racist tone, geddit?

Good Mud Dee for posting the original link ....

Obviously someone from SA found how to provoke South Africans, from either side, with the comments / description; thereby getting the sensation what he/she needed. Whether SA still needs this type of sensation, who knows?

If the message was about the car and the stupidity of someone driving a car for 220km in 1st gear is debatable .. to me it appears it was about proviking South Africans with sensation!

My first thought was: I would love to see the person that can pull away using the clutch think the car is an auto. I see snopes had that in their writeup as well.

I've had a car catch fire after an electrical fault. That's most likely what happened here.

I think the real story from Snopes is pretty funny:

"...when the Citroen's engine block simply burst into flames..."

It caught alight because it's a Citroen (an French Tongue). Jeremy Clarkson would love it.
