Pls help the noob :-)

Where can a girl get HONEST advice about kit etc - I've visited a few shops and find that most of the (male) salesmen dont have much knowledge about stuff for girls (e.g. kit, saddles, shoes etc) and just tell me to "get the men's version but just buy a smaller size"  If that were really the way to go, then why did all these manufacturers go to  the trouble of making women-specific items??

Mikes Bikes in Greenside. Gail knows EVERYTHING!

Cool! Think I may have to go visit her, thanks for the info. Do you think she'd be able to give me advice on what I need to get- as the name implies, I havent been playing with bikes for long and am VERY aware that there are LOTS of things I still need to get.....

I have a good eye for kit, next time you "draff out" take a picture and post it, you will get good response here. (what a dog I amLOL)

Mabe look for reviews online, or try see what other girls are using, as they should know best. Websited like www.bikeradar.com review ladies wear and have female test riders. See what they recomend.

otherwise.. as much as I hate to refer you there, I guess some of the large bike stores like cycle lab have ladies stuff.(donno about the service though).

good luck.

Trust me, Gail knows! I always walk out there with +-R1000's worth of stuff more than what I came in for! LOL

I've driven past them before' date=' but normally I feel intimidated to go into a bike shop and ask questions that may reveal how little I actually know Embarrassed

I did the exact thing last year when I started out, and the team from Mike's made me feel super welcome, and helped me out a lot, so try them.
