Good morning all hubbers, the sun is shining and the cycling community is uniting.

When this thread opened up on our pages, many of us were shocked, but what is awesome is that Mathilda has endured and has made her way back to cycling.

Join us this Saturday on our awareness ride for bicycle safety.

On Saturday we would like to celebrate Mathilda

Only got to read this thread now and all i can saw is WOW, what a tragic, but yet, such an amazing story of the human spirit and the will to live. What an inspiring journey.

How is Mathilda doing now, and how is Grant? (funny how after reading this, you feel like part of the family :) )

I am nobody's hero, though it's nice to hear! Indeed it is a long road to recovery: I'm getting stronger, but will never (as Jagwil mentioned in the Pretoria News article earlier in the week) be the same again. But hey, I'm back on the bike (albeit on the back of a tandem because I haven't recovered my balance {yet}) and that's all that matters, right?! Grant is MY hero: I wouldn't have done this without him, my Captain, or that beautiful Fandango... Come join us on Saturday on the Awareness Ride, please guys and gals. We're taking OUR TRAILS BACK!

Mathilda, it is your fighting spirit that is such an inspiration.

Grant is an amazing man! And so is his dad. I am glad to have made your acquaintance. I still think back to that day I phoned you and couldn't believe it was you on the line! What an amazing recovery you made in such a short time up to that point.
