Ishen Stopforth was alone in the front of the womans race after Yolande de Villiers broke the RD hanger on her Vulcan. Ishen won comfortably in the end.

Did she have her hubby pacing her the whole way again...?

I thought I would cut my time from last year - this was not to be - I ended up about 1/2 hour slower. I definitely need to put in more training for the Epic.

Same here.  I thought i trained my ass off for this event but still only managed 8:51.  What a tough long day in the saddle.

thw question is how to progress fast enough to be able to do the epic in a respectable time and not burn myself out ????

I hope the epic is not going to be like this race every day otherwise i am in for a lot of pain. A LOT of Pain !!

Ag please' date=' loser chick talk. Her hubby rode with me most of the time, 15min behind. And you know what, every girl and guy is in a slipstream most of the time. Why dont you sit Evans slipstream and you will beat her.

I saw Ischen slipstreaming and pacing from time to time. Same with the other girls. If you're good enough to slip, cool. There are times when a guy will drop back to pace the girl back to a group, thats not so cool, or when Brian Strauss pushes his daughter, thats not cool, I agree.

Actually....I'm a guy. And anyone who knows me knows that she would kick my arse any day. Slipstream Evans...? Not in my wildest dreams.

I refer to events like Knysna last year when her husband paced her the entire way.

Not what I would call classy racing.

Highly P****d myself with my DNF.

Was doing well and feeling strong till about 54km's when an idiot on a quad bike turned out of the bush in front of me on a downhill. I couldn't see diddly for dust and with the speed I was going hit a hole or who knows what and flew into a small tree.

Big enough to give me serious cuts to my neck and leave some of it's smaller bits embedded in my neck, and me bleeding like hell.

Waited ages for medics and then no doctor. Another rider I'd helped with his bike earlier ended up, with his wife, taking me to hospital.  After removal of sticks etc from neck and 6 stitches I was ok.

So, I'm not impressed.

It was up to that time, not too bad.

Damn! How many ppl fell into those to sink holes!??! I only just made it across sitting 2de wheel at that stage and only saw it when I was on it, damn, was a close call, there should have been a Danger sign or some thing around those things, I did see one at the one hole but there were about 3 other holes without Warning.

I almost fell victim to those holes, every other hazard was signposted, but not those nasty ones.
