You mean Burry? If so, I think that's incorrect because he finished in the top 10 at the The Fast One road race today. Hurt his knee in Barberton is what I heard.

The only version of events available is Stewart's.

From his website:

"Results

Barberton MTN marathon series // 2009-01-24

1. Max Knox 5-00

2. Jac jansen Van rensburg 5-01

3. Brandon Stewart 5-05

4. Kevin Evans 7-00

5. David George 8-00"

I hope his version of what happened during the race is not as skewed as his version of the results.  Wasn't he disqualified?

Regarding his version on the web:

Wel; today was an awesome day for our team... Max won, Jacque was 2nd

and I was 3rd.. So it was a clean sweep which is so good for the first

race of the season..

But there was a little drama out on route.. With myself and the

king KE.. Kevin. After 80kms Max attacked and Kevin had to chase.. As I

was speeding up to get on Kevins wheel.. He just turned into me and

switch me right into the bush but lucky I didnt go down.. i saw red and

as far as I was concerned he was not going to get away with it that

easily...

So retaliated with the same treatment... I switched him back but he

was so tired that he could hardly hang onto the bars so a little nudge

had him eating some dust..

We then waited for him had some words and the racing resumed.. But

at the finish Kevin had to have an excuse as he cant take been beaten..

There is always a long story when he doesnt win he can never give any

rider credit when they do well..

He then protested and I was DQ because I did not protest first..

Which is so wendy... Its the sport of racing and if you want to play

then play but if you come off second best then dont cry about it..

Every rider has there day.. Its the first time in the sport of Mountain

biking that there has been a protest.. WHICH SAYS ALOT...

I am somewhat skeptical of his version.  Sounds to me he was still behind Kevin when Kevin might have changed lanes or something .  He has to give a good reason after all as to why he did what he himself did.

As to the level of his own response there is no doubt.

I also do not appreciate his personal attack on Kevin always having excuses and such.  It is about as lame as being South Africa's XC champion after Burry was faster in every race.

I agree with Mr Haste. Western province riders (in genral) are the most unfriendly sportsmen around. Cyclists in any other provence are always friendly and willing to help. non-cyclists in WP are all so friendly, so why do the WP cyclists think that they are above above everyone else? No one greets anyone (you will be lucky to even get a look of any kind). They all have their 'clangs' and they will only speak to and help their grouppies.

So please just chill out, enjoy the sport and just be friendly. You are only human like everyone else

...i really hope all the guys making these personal attacks on our great riders know what they are talking about else this is just a very good show of some peoples poor character.

i agree with an earlier post that SA mountainbikers are in good shape to make a (further) serious impression on the international scene...

XC is for pansies.  You get switched in 4x, fair game.  he with the bigger goons rules.

If MTB weent the way of holing hands, I'd have to take up something less faggot.

Even without hearing KE's version of events, BS's own story is a little suspect? BS says he was trying to catch KE's wheel. Not pass it. The only way you can get switched is if your front wheel is ahead of the dude in front's back wheel. Unless KE pulled brakes, in which case it's a different story.

And wouldn't a more appropriate response be for BS to ask KE why the hell he did what he did?

Just another observation - is it considered wendy to keep whingeing after you've been DQ'd? How about laughing it off and moving on. That's what I had to do when I was embarassingly DQ'd at Magalies Monster, after getting lost (and behaving rather badly)...OK, well I'm no pro, so I don't know ho those boys roll.

See the Facebook group "Super Switch Stewart"... Funny stuff. Any case, you guys don't know what really happened (and neither do I), so what's the point of deciding who was at fault here? Let the boys sort it out among themselves. Plenty of races to come.

Agteros - If thats what BS posted on FCB then he must be A*hole

If this is how the guys behaved then it shows that they all doing to much road racing and getting used to team tactics.

MTB is like a TT (Not a TTT!!!), everyone for himself and may the best rider win, if someone pulls a dirty one on you then you reply by out riding him fair and square....yes ride hard and dont give an inch but keep it fair.

Yep, judging by that group, BS and MK can be glad they're good on the MTB... Looks like they have yet to graduate from the sandpit. "Big shnose switched me, so I switched him back and then he told on me"

I wonder what their sponsor thinks of this FB group...
