Some of the coolest bikes in the world with lots of streetcred, made right here in SA and most people don't even know about it!

Would be nice to see South African flying on one of these.

But you never see them marketed anywhere and they are the same price as overseas bikes. The south aftican would rather buy something from an overseas company then an SA company if they have to pay the same price. Just look at Raleigh.

How are Morewood and Raleigh anything alike?

Do Raleigh hand make their bikes in South Africa?

Do Raleigh support local industry by using local resources and skills?

Do Raleigh sponsor any international race teams?

Have Raleigh won any championships outside of South Africa?

Do Raleigh compete within the high-end market anywhere else in the world?

i would say thats a bit overboared for a bike!!!!

um there made in sa but cost the same????? doesnt make sense...

no wonder bike dealers want to rather sell the big international name than a local sa name!!!

Agree with Jon0...Why the rip pff if its made here?? same with prices on CRC to our LBS??

Rip off? r u Confused

Just a guess but maybe cause they are hand made and NOT mass produced in some far eastern place with an unpronounceable name by some slant eyed tjop who also goes by an unpronounceable name.

Apologies to any slant eyes who might be offended

I'm meaning that people say that Raleigh is value for money and is "owned" by a SA company so we should support. But meanwhile you can get an international brand for the same amount of money. Who cares if it's hand made. Meridas are robot welded and that is one of their selling points. So it comes down to, people don't want a SA product, not matter how good it is, if they can buy an international brand ridden by an euro ponce for about the same price.

I hear what you are saying, but you need to compare apples with apples here. If you have ever ridden, seen or read a review on a Morewood you would know that few companies in the WORLD can rival the build quality of the frame. As for the ride... the countless 5 out of 5 bike reviews done by some of the worlds leading cycling publications will speak for themselves. I do understand that South African's expect a South African mf'd product to be less expensive, but the unfortunate fact is that this is not a market Morewood is trying to compete in. If you compare any Morewood frame with a similar Santacruz, Ellsworth, IF, Intense, Nicolai you will see that there is value in the bikes, they are more cost effective. Cheap no, but competitive yes!

Just ranting... ;)
