Marius Posted February 12, 2007 Share Very nice!!! Worth finding out if CWC can match of better the price. Just remember you still going to pay that 15% Vat and Transport Cost, so lets add that. So if you get quoted anything close to R8k it's still beter to by it locally.Marius2007-02-12 06:20:

Marius Posted February 12, 2007 Share I don't know, did the DHL option once and still had to pay Vat / Tax, worked out more expencive buying oversea's than just buying it here. Also a major f up if they send you the wrong stuff, then you have to send it back ching ching, wait, then pay Tax on it AGAIN ching ching and then you get reimbursed with a Voucher you have to spend there again, f that. From personal experiance I'm telling you lot, take the price, add what ever costs it's going to take to get it here and take that price to you LBS, it's worked for me so far. MintSauce Posted February 13, 2007 Share Been re-assesing the whole self-help import thing. It's definitely no longer worth it bringing anything in from the states as it's more expensive. As for the UK, it's not really worth the difference anymore. If you support a specific LBS they would generally be willing to get pretty close to the imported price so i'd rather pay a little more and have the back-up and support in case something goes wrong. Only stuff I order now are T-shirts since none of the distributors can be bothered to import T's (don't understand this phenomenon since we'd all wanna buy them, right?) rock Posted February 13, 2007 Share ja you need to do your maths before, my juicy 5's cost me a total of R1275 per wheel, LBS quoted R1600 before offering any discount.......but they definately not going to give me over 20% discount on my credit card..... (oh, I had to wait a whole 3 days to get them tahks to DHL, LBS didn't even have them is stcok in any case)
Guest Big H Posted February 13, 2007 Share I have imported lots of stuff from www.chainwheelcycles.com and www.totalcycling.com Even my Polar S725X was cheaper that anybody locally. Marius you do not pay VAT overseas. You only pay VAT on receipt. Do not use the Parcelforce option when ordering. This is British Royal Mail. The end receiver here is Postnet and they are useless unless you want to risk losing the items and adding another two weeks to your delivery time!!!!!!!! Rather go for the DHL option. rock Posted February 13, 2007 Share ja I prefer to order with a mate a ndsplit the DHL cost.......pre-clear through customs myself before it arrives and collect from DHL on arrival....

AndreZA Posted February 13, 2007 Share Well, I just ordered a Ultegra groupset from CR for R4200 (excl hubs) including free shipping. Will see how much I have to pay once it lands this side. The best I could get it locally (read country) was R5800 excl shipping.
