Im will be looking to buy a new bib/shorts shortly

Whats the difference between the two? Pros/Cons

I currently ride with a bib, but on the longer rides i tend to feel very restricted... er.. squashed in the nether regions...

So looking for something more comfortable

Advice please

I take it you have not cycled in shorts recently of for a long time.  For me it is bib or bust.

Got sponsored kit by our company last year and we got shorts instead of bibs.  I only wear it on short commute rides to work.  More than an hour and the irritation gets too much.

Yip, that's the only difference. Keeps your nipples and shoulders warm. That's the only benefit they give. Just use shorts from now one. Ok? Problem solved.

That string around the waist becomes very irretating to me.  Hence me only using the shorts on shorter distances.

I always went for normal cycling shorts until I bought a decent pair of Santini Bibs shorts while in Italy last year.  Man I wish I had bought more. It has its challenges when you need to hit the brushes for a nature break, but being a bit of an exhibitionist helps a lot, there is nothing like standing under a tree in your birthday suite with your shirt hanging from a branch and your bib shorts around your ankles while the bunch rides away from youEmbarrassed there will always be a later bunch.  I tried Vaseline, Sshammy cream and all the rest but hey they are expensive or very greasy for actually nothing so I went to the Farmers co-op (the advantage of staying in Pretoria) and bought a huge tub of the cream they use on the udders of the cows before milking...now that stuff works and is a pretty pink color and smells great as well and you can use it on your scaly feet and legs Big%20smile

BIBS DONT SHOW CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok that said if the bibs are tight around the tender bits make sure that you have not over stretched the legs of the shorts i find that if the shorts are too far down your legs they will be very restricting and very tight so make sure they are about mid way down your leg in between your knee and your CR#TCH but not too far up so they look like hot pants

in the abscence of pantani, i'll adopt the style man role: were you alone? getting nekkid on a ride isn't a bad thing on its own. but surround yourself with at least one (similarly minded and uninhibited) rider (oh, forgot, of the opposite sex - that's kinda important). if you don't get "biblical", at least she can show you how to remove your "straps" with a minimum of fuss, thus easing access to your plumbing.
