Every cyclist for himself' date=' stop bugging idiots. If they want to be killed by a taxi from behind, or hit their head on the tar, let them bee.

As long as you and your cycling buddy keep safe and be traffic wise then your ok.

Yes this is true, but then idiots should also stop bugging law abiding citizens. Next bloke that slips streams me at 5am in the morning without lights is going to get blah blah violence begets violence blah blah

And the dude that rides half a bike length behind you? or a bike length? Or  someone's gardener who doesn't even have ten cents to buy a light, much less have any idea what slip streaming even is? GoLefty owns the road? GoLefty decides who may ride on it, when, how far away from each other?

if you want to ride with me then be courteous. Greet with a "good morning, may I ride along with you?"

The answer is usually yes.

Creep up behind and you're looking for trouble. The road is public, my personal space is not.

Got it TNT1. No need to respond. Form your number of posts I can see you're a lonely old man looking for a conversation.

Most replies are missing a salient point here in that a rider with no lights can jeopardise the safety of others.

She mentions that they were "blocking her light". Scenario - a car comes from behind and ploughs into all 3 of them as the driver does not see any lights.

Another scenario - driver swerves late to avoid idiots without lights, crashes into a tree or a group of riders coming the other way with lights on.

It is extremely dangerous and extremely foolish to ride without lights as it affects the safety of others. I think it is our duty to inform all idiots on the roads of this fact. Speak up!!!!!!!!!

I actually do care. It's not cool for a dude to hit a lady' date=' but in this case she wasnt a lady. She verbally abused these guys. I'm not condoning them hitting her. It's pretty sick actually, but my point is that people should just learn to mind their own business. If some people dont wanna have lights then let them. It's darwin's evolution theory. Let them worry about the accidents they might have. Same story with helmets. I often see people without them at tokai. why should I go  and tell them to put one on? who cares. If they fall and get brain damaged then it's one less moron on the face of the planet.
really, you people just stress too much and carry on about the tiniest bull.

Clap Clap Clap but only for some points about the darwin thing....

I care, cause they land up in state institutions and MY tax money pays for their stupidiness..... so yeah, I will tell them please use helmets as they are 1) breaking the law and 2) are possibly going to waist my tax money for the rest of thier lives.....

100% but do you say 'hey buddy please wear a helmet as you are breaking the law and endangering yourself and possible wasting my tax money' or do you say ' HEY f**kNUT WEAR A HELMET!!'

See big difference. On the first option you have a fairly good chance of a positive response like 'ye but I don't have money to buy one'. In case of a negative response you let it go since you have done your 'duty' as a responsible citizen. With the second option you have a fairly high chance of getting a snot klap not so?

Funny how it is totally acceptable for a female to sweat (or swear ;) ) at somebody and get away with it. If I were to pull up next to a female and go 'hey bitch get out of my way' what do you think the reaction would be?

Somebody blocking your light - hell pull over for 15 secs and let them on their way and voila the whole road is yours again. Now patience is not the maid's name, it's something that if you care to use it could spare you a lot of frustration and possible an assault.

But the issue is that the woman first spoke nicely to them, was completely ignored, then she escalated her tone and language to solicit a response.

Only then did they start to respond. This speaks volumes about their character. if one needs to be shouted at in order to get a point across then perhaps the MTB'ers belonged back in primary school.

and as always, two wrongs don't make a right. So her shouting at them and swearing at them did not need to result in a slap. Thats just poor SAFFA male baas van ie plaas mentality that needs to be buried with the parents that taught them their manners.

yeah I blame the parents

Well I do not think that there have ever been an issue about the response she got. All agree - don't go around slapping people.  The problem here is she seemed adamant in her attempt to 'solicit a response'. This she managed to do but was not prepared for th type of response she got.

If you think that you will get a point across by shouting and swearing then that belong in primary school as well and yes I think we can blame the parents on both sides
