K the HUGE question in my mind is.

What time do people get home or do they just not freakin work ?

I live in PTA, work in JHB. I leave at +- 16:00 & get home round abt  17:20

On my way home i see guys already on their way back from a ride full of mud or dust - whichever & im jealous. How do they get it right to skive work like that ?, sure some might have theor own businesses etc but surely not all ??

It also seems they are getting back sooner even with sundown happening earlier. Where the hell am i going wrong ?, i also wanna go ride at like 3 in the afternoon

fatcyclist: Commute = get run over / hi jacked...

I've been doing it for more than 2yrs now, and have been lucky. Just pick a safe route (my route has changed a bit since I started) and stay vigilant. I do look like a riding xmas tree though..so many flashing lights smiley36.gif

Too much of the same thing makes Johny a bad boy.  I am going to take a break for a few months and switch to my other passion - sqaush.  Looking forward already to start MTBing in July again.

What would you say is the best way to stay motivated. It also seems like there'sa cold winter coming.

The warm kit makes me uncomfortable.

ride with a bud(friend)

think of a slow start and how you'll work it up to a point where your shoulders get numb... the cool air clearing the sweat and your lungs burning...

start off clean and end attacking any puddle that just about look funny your way...

leave your bike dirty and ride ride it like that the next day.. cleaning every second ride.

Get your better half to drop u far from home ' date=' then you have no choice but to ride homeConfused[/quote']

That easyer said than done, getting my love out of bed at 4.

Just set a (some) goal(s) and it's pretty easy...

Mine is: "If I don't train - my wife will start beating me soon" - on a bike that is.

Just do 2 sessions a day - one in the am outside and one in the pm on the idt...

Motivation for this winter was easy...looked in the bathroom mirror as I was about to get into the shower ....WTF??!??

Actually I find it easier to ride in winter. I spend about 3 times more time on the MTB than the roadbike, and MTB in the winter is just more fun (down here in the Cape)

gadgets.

winte'rs a brilliant excuse to get all kinds of new gadgets - lights, a new polyprop shirt, a new windjacket or rainjacket if your a capie, gloves, booties - and commute to work, to test all these gadgets. get a mountainbike if you don't have one. works for me :)

also helps that i entered sani2c nonstop: train or die!

booties because of the rain?

no idea what the booties would be for, legend!

i was told to get booties for ride2rhodes, apparently to prevent frostbite ... will have to experiment with different things - and find out what works for other people - but i'll do that in a different thread, hijacking this one now Big%20smile
