Karl Beaton Posted April 27, 2009 Share a bit he hell in ... on the way from a great weekedn in the Cederberg MTB the braket holding the bikes onto the trailer broke and now I have two less bikes. will cost about R20k to replace my bike and R3k to replace my wife's. A few years ago this happened to me and i had 2 friends bikes on with mine.The insurance refused to pay out as the trailer wasn't built with a carrier.I built one and fitted it and it lasted for ages.So now my bike goes into the boot. L'Bie Posted April 28, 2009 Share It sucks dude! I 'll tell you that my experience led me to believe no Bicycle should be mounted on a towbar! Years agoi had two bikes on a rack going to Windhoek and arrived with a severely bended towbar! I know you will say "unbelievable!", but it was bend to the point where the towbar rubbed the tar trough every dip in the road. I tried to brace the jig with rope, but that was only partial succesful leaving scuff marks on my car's paintjob. Bosal towbars are rated at a maximum load of 70Kg, but remmeber that the bikerack becomes a lever. Your experience says the rest is history. Get a "Bones" rack that fits in about 5 minutes to your car and not an attahcment or get a roof rack. It is far safer! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I assume this post was meant as a warning to others, so please explain what happened or are youy the type who will sit back and laugh as the same thing happens to friends and foe?
