Well, got the test rides in this weekend, and this machine is quick and rock solid. Survived some iffy line choices and possibly the roughest (dumbest?) landing I've ever had the pleasure of attempting, and it never felt unmanageable. And it even climbs well, which helps even if it's not really the point...

please excuse my ignorance as far as downhill goes, i am from jhb, no hills here, but is this bike of yours for downhill only ?

the set up looks pretty upright to me ?

We feel your pain' date=' man. Shova is a 140mm Trail / AM bike. Can do XC/Marathon, but that's not it's intended use.[/quote']

I'm doing Knysna XC on it, I'll let you know how it goes... have a feeling it'll be worth it for the descents though smiley4.gif

Agree. Got my entry level MTB from them in March. Only place in Somerset West that actually gave me the right advice and sold me what I needed (even if old Ben did double my budget, but he convinced wife, so that was a plus).

I love the first pic.

I still want to know why why they mount the rear shock the way they do. Most other manufacturers mount it the other way around.

Two reasons:

1: Clearance' date=' mounted this way there is more clearance for a water bottle [which is pretty tight as it is']

2.) Believe it or not the lighter side of the shock is the aircan side as this is the side which holds the air spring. It makes more sense for this to be on the swingarm and doing all of the moving and shaking.

Note: You will see on the newer bikes that this has changed, this is mosty due to this very question ;)
