Never ridden a Mbuzi, but I love my Shova lots.

Can't say that I push to it's limits that I really NEED it's bigger brother, but you know how it goes.

I have installed a workscomponents 1.5° headset, but I can't say it 'transformed' the bike completely.

Don't have a proper measuring tool to measure the head angle. Just used an app on the phone, but it's crap. (or it's the operator that's to blame :whistling: )

The wheelbase went from 1110mm to 1120mm & when compared to the cane creek advanced calculator it seems like I've definitely changed by -1.5° which will land me at 67.5° (-ish) like the Mbuzi has.

Just for interest's sake, does slackening the HA that much not put massive strain on the headtube? The guys at stoke often warn of slapping a big travel fork on a mid travel bike since the change in HA may end up sheering the HA off?

Or is the 1.5 deg still in its manufactured range?

I've first spoken to Steve from Morewood regarding the angleset & he said the Shova can take quite a beating & he will warranty the frame if anything should happen.

He suggested I first send him an e-mail so that everything is in writing, if for whatever reason things go sideways.

Curently running 150mm revelation, but I wouldn't go longer on travel though.

Ive been wanting to drop one of those onto the Mbuzi to drop to 66deg on the HA but for now the 67.5 is pretty sweet. If you ever up in JHB let me know and you can take the Mbuzi out for a spin.Latest upgrade1796702_10151850514496557_1746902410_n.jpg1508058_10151850514466557_1573200990_n.jpgI did find a puddle of brake fluid under the bike this morning. No idea where it came from though...

THANX Maxxis!

I will take you up on that offer when I am around the bobbejaansberg

BTW: What's the weight of your bike?

(I know it's sort of asking: how much does your girlfriend / wife weigh ? :whistling: )

Ja before I upped the travel on my Stumpy to 140mm I got cofirmation from Spez that they'd still honour the warranty. But 140mm is the limit they'll warrant on a 130mm frame.

The travel is not really the factor that determines the change in head angle but it is the easy way of measuring it.

Axle to crown length is what you should be looking at.

As for my Mbuzi.

Weight is a pudgy 16kg I think. Need to measure again. This is with a fairly lightweight build but the wheels and dropper adds a bit.

Wouldn't mind having it around 14.5 to 15kg.

Latest upgrade was the bars. Haven't ridden it yet since the upgrade but I had alu Warhead on before so hopefully in about 5 to 6 weeks I'll be able to see what it feels like.

Skylark. .....The trick is actually finding an mbuzi for sale! !!!!!!!!!

A few months back there was one lurking for around R10k, think the guy eventually even went below that, didn't sell fast, also been a few Shova's and Zulas

Whacha.. not only is the new ride great on the ups and downs.. but mamma bear attacked pappa bear on the home straight today.. and she is fast too.. 40.5km/hr on a false flat.. I just love this bike.

DubbelBuys where did you source the angleset from and how much do they go for? Cheers

Got it from: www.workscomponents.co.uk/

Cost a pretty penny with the weak Rand, but I'm sure it'll be worth it once I've tried it out on some decent trails.

Think it was £61 for the headset & £8.50 for shipping.

You can always go onto the site & do a fake purchase without registering / logging in.

Top quality headsets with common sized sealed bearings. Like the ones used in the giant / fsa headsets.

That's why you need to sell it to me

Haha! I don't think you've got enough Ronds boet. Remember it's now a vintage bike (....being small wheeled...) and on top of that it's now got an Epic sticker! Just kidding. After 3 years, I am actually thinking of getting something else, but probably won't let the frame go. Too many good memories. But if I do, you'll be the 1st to hear.

Thanx.

In no big rush to buy, but when the 'right' Zula comes my way I will buy it!
