I don't think I ever posted a pic of my Sukuma up here...

(Yes I know it had its own thread... but it deserves a place in the Morewood thread)

How has that paint work lasted RE wear and tear?

How has that paint work lasted RE wear and tear?

To be honest... not too well... not too well at all.

Under normal wear and tear conditions it would be fine. But shuttling killed it.

However, at it's first enduro race it caught the eye of none other than Mr Morewood himself. He was very intrigued by my take on the last bike he designed for the big M.

Then an hour or 2 later, Fabien (an engineer at the M factory, who also has a yellow Sukuma) also was drawn to my blue bomber. He said I could send it to them with my custom decals and they would do it in powdercoat for me.

So yeah, when I have time to strip it down, I'll do that.

Rode my Mbuzi again yesterday after a bit of an off-time. Still puts a big smile on my face. Love that bike!

MOREWOOD ZULA

Ok ... so who has done or know of someone who has done the following and give some feedback please

  1. Run the Zula with a 140mm fork?
  2. Experience in running the Zula in 650B converted format?

What questions do you have on the 650b converted format.. my husband did that with his 26 "zula.. I could ask him for you.

As for the 140mm sorry I can't help I only have 120mm.

i was very eager when i built up my zula so i just slapped my 150mm revelation on & took it for a short spin around the plot.

It felt weird.

I then spaced the fork down to 125mm & it rides beautifully.

The Zulas are very capable bikes for their travel.

I built mine up to be burly.

Built with:

Spaced down Rev RLT

Spank Spike wheels with Bronson on the front & Wolverine on the back.

Now just to save up & get a Monarch to replace the RP23 & send it to Morewood for a respray.

  • what is the rear wheel clearance like
  • has the bikes handling been improved or has it been to the detriment of the handling
  • is he running a 100mm fork up front

I am pretty damned sure that when the Zula was being developed on when we tried out the prototype at Jonkers, someone said Mr Morewood had his running a 140mm .... need to do some trawling to find out more ....

He hasn't experienced any issues with the wheel clearance. And has done some serious mud riding.

Still handles like a dream.

He is running 100mm up front. He was looking to put a 120mm up front.. but is battling to get hold of a new one that isn't tapered.

Have you actually measured with a tapered fork & an external (lower) headset ?

I am sure it'll fit.
