yes you could fit a Lefty to any other bike.

You will need to make up some spacers to shim the clamp internal diameter to to the 1&1/8 steerer tube.

It has been done on many different bikes. Project 321 makes such an adaptor:

This has been successful on bikes ranging from BMC's to Turners to Schwinns etc etc etc. The kit comprises a steerer tube and shims (spacers).

well to shoot on a fork is a useless test to me for knowing how good the fork is. I mean it's a mtb sus fork not a bomb shelter. Would cannondale literaly mean that it's bullet proof? I don't think so.

you ain't gonna be prepared when carmeggedon comes...

"Another stiffness advantage Lefty has is due to the stub axle being a 20mm cantilever. Thats a far stiffer in bending connection than any 9mm QR axle which is often not properly clamped anyway. Some trail forks now approach the stiffness of Lefty but those weigh nearly 2Kg.."

Sure they weigh more but they'll have plenty more travel.

Call me old-fashioned' date=' but I believe that a car should be rear-wheel drive and that a fork should have two sides to it. Having said that I must admit that I have never ridden a lefty. I hear they are pretty good. They just look wrong to me. [/quote']

Ever looked at the back end of a Ducati? It's the rear end

version of the lefty!!!

No I haven't, but is it really like that, or is it a single swing-arm?

What about the landing gear on a plane? The wheels on your car? Both are only bolted on to one side!

ah the SUB4

they stopped producing it. It could nt compete in terms of weight with Lefty or other forks anylonger. It only offered 100mm of travel.

excellent idea but it did not catch on due to the popularity of the Lefty.

I can't agree more. Those things look strange. Like something out of a freak show.

the jim rose of bike forks! smiley4.gif

I should have added that I do like the idea of the innovation at work with this idea. Someone sat down and thought "Is there a better way?" Well if he succeeded is debatable, dependent on your personal viewpoint, but they did try.

No it is not like the lefty - but I do not know how to argue the point so I won't smiley1.gif It is a swing arm and damned sexy at that.Mutt2009-05-29 05:09:20

I am not knocking them. I just think they look strange. I would be uncomfortable riding one. As I said I am a bit old fashioned.WinkSmile

Looks a lot like personal preference to me. Some guys buy a 'dale and put regular forks on while others put lefty's on non 'dale bikes. Thanks for an interesting read!
