Unfortunately I will also have to miss the ride... chest infection is back after Thug pushed me too hard on this morning's ride smiley18.gif

Enjoy.

Am still in bed feeling sorry for myself for having to miss the ride... hope you guys had a great one and that it wasn't too cold. Look forward to hearing about it!

Quite a few opted out (due to the cold?), so we were about 12 that started the ride:

Trubie got some photos taken by the driver of his car, which acted as our backup vehicle. He said that those that want photos, please send him a PM.

I cycled there with ianJ / Sonic / Wonder Woman / Nanosec Nialls. I cramped twice up some hills, and eventually decided to make use of the backup car. Thanks Trubie. Thumbs%20Up

Thug offered me a lift back home, which I gladly accepted. Thanks Thug Thumbs%20Up

I am not too sure about all the technical stats of the ride, except that we shortened it a bit by going onto Hendrik Potgieter on the way back from Robert Broome. The ride ended up at about 70km (I overheard?). There was more than a thousand meters of vertical ascent in there.

Good ride everybody. Next time I'll try and organise better weather as well!

-4 was the min temp on the Polar. When we stopped at 7:30 to fix a puncture I couldn't get water out my bottle. When I checked why I saw the top 1cm or so was frozen Ouch.

Those that rode from my house and back got in about 133km and 1200m of ascent. Nice ride even with the weather and good company. Thanks to the Southerners that made the Great Trek to the North and nice to meet you guys.

Can't say that I have ever been that cold on a ride, but it lasted for about 18k's then the mercury slowly crept up to 7 degrees. Ave temp for the ride 8 degr.

Humbling experience riding with you guys though. Climbing gods if I ever saw some ClapClapClap

My back is certainly reminding me today that we ascended 985m on that 73 odd k's. A "Cool" ride nonetheless, and how nice to meet some great fellow hubbers.

To all that was part of it, thanks a stack. My life is richer for it today!

Thanks everyone for a tremendous ride. I think though that next time we need a warmer location!

Great meeting the Hubbers from the Souf & thanks to Trubie and his son for providing & driving the back up vehicle. Thumbs%20Up

Slave, climbing 13% gradients is far easier with a 25. Wink

Great group effort on one of the coldest days of the year. Clap I will never forget the ice cubes floating in my bottles. Ended up doing 170km on the day by doing an extra lap around the city. Great to put a face to a name and enjoyed having Trubie and his son provide vehicle support. Look forward to riding in the south sometime in the future.

You guys all look very cold, OX you should have arranged for better weather.

Slave, I see you made it, glad your shoulder is better.

Trubie, were you the kings of the hills ?

And what were you doing logged onto the hub at 6:47am on a Sunday morning ????

No definitely not king of the hills, more like the queenie.........

The okes were miles ahead of me on every climb. I'll send you the route profile, and you be the judge of the level of pain I endured.

I had a family committment yesterday, so couldnt go out in am for a ride, so checked out the WWRR pics on the thread in stead.

Those rolling hills on Robert Broom are mean and nasty but that first one that Agteros took us up was just plain wicked !!
