A quick search of TNT's other posts makes for an interesting read. Does The Hub give a platform to voice some anger issues? Does you parents know you're drinking coffee?

Obvious rant off.

Thats why he's aka exploding bob.

I remember signing a contract that stated that I always wear a helmet when riding in the sponsors clothes, they even went so far as giving me said helmet. I also had to always wear shoes when representing the team. It just boiled down to being a good ambassador (spelleing? jagwil?) for the team and sponsors.

Along with that also came an inate respect of the sponsor, they put so much money into our team and myself, that the least I could do was being a good representative.

Sadly, some (not all) pro riders feel they can do what they like, because maybe the sponsors owes them something, or because they are awesome, or whatever. Or maybe they were just horsing around. Point is, their actions are bad form. And would have gotten me a vet klap from my previous manager.

No one says that you HAVE to wear a helmet after a race. If you do not want to then don't...If you have some brain cells you want to protect then do wear one.

I do not think they should be "setting" any safety standard....we should all just look after ourselfs.

Are you also going to "NAME and SHAME" every person leaving the race and not wearing their safety belts???

Eeeeer well actually the road traffic act says a cyclist has to wear a helmet at all times when riding on a public road...

I am fine with these guys not wearing helmets and disobeying road rules. It's just a bike and they will most likely just hurt themselves. I dont think they are ambassadors, just young bike riders. Who didn't bugger around as a youngster?

Do they represent cycling? Perhaps but I sure did not appoint them to represent me.

Thank goodness I am getting on a bit and remember tearing around the farms of Natal on my bike as a kid without anyone getting wound up because I ignored road rules, farm boundaries and so on(not sure bike helmets had been invented yet).

Morality is to be used on yourself in my opinion. It is not a stick with which to beat other people.

Dirt - you have learned quickly.

Unfortunately there are a few people on the hub who believe that only one opinion counts - their own.

They dont like criticism and they hate facts

Some of them also believe they can slant and belittle everyone who dares to differ from them.

Fortunately there are fewer of these characters than of the decent, well meaning, mannered, and knowledgeable one's, so just ignore them they go away after a while

Guys, the solution is simple. If they don't want to wear their helmets, thats their choice. They may turn out organ donors, they may not. But it is their choice. Just like the guys speeding, not wearing a seatbelt... Its their choice.

The only thing that they need to do is face the consequence of their action. If they crash, the scramble their pip, that is their choice and their consequence. if it is against the law and they get fined, thats the consequence, if their sponsors rip them a new one, thats their consequence.

I would say it is all about setting an example.

Exactly, and respect for the sponsors. Everyone is always complaining about the lack of sponsors etc, but this is how they treat them?

These guys obviously dont have any idea of what influence they have on youngsters and even adults who have just taken up/considering taking up the sport.

Monkey do what monkey sees.

Professionals have the responsibility to act in a "professional manner", but they also get their example from pro riders overseas. Remember the pic yesterday with the Liquigas team staring at the Lambo/whatever beast it was. Only one of them was wearing a helmet.

Intern said it earlier, pro riders dont set good examples at all, by littering, etc, etc....

Same happens in other sport - if a younster sees his Springbok hero hitting an Aussie, he'll probably try the same in his next match.
