In a similar vein then' date=' the whole "buy" South African debate is rubbish. Proudly South African?

I would love love to ride with/against overseas riders in our local races - but if you asked me whether I would pay to bring a rider here and race against him - I'd say no.

If he's here on his own accord, bringing his Euro's with him, that's great. Good for our economy and everything else.

Our local leagues are for locals- besides JS I think we have a Moroccan also racing.

The TdFrance is an international sporting event, with international teams. I don't think there is a single team of one nationality. Even the french company Cofidis have two non-french riders (probably playing Domestiques).

Waiting for some facts about a SA rider sponsored by a company of the host country competing in the "local" leagues abroad.

THANK YOU!!!

What happened to proudly South African... what helping SA ladies out... investing in South African riders futures... investing in South African cycling...

How is sponsoring a foreigner helping SA Cycling... I would see the benefits if JS was riding together in a team with young riders teaching them the ropes...

What JS does is not racing she leaches of the SA teams and then just finishes them off at the end... GREAT!! WHOO HOO...

I would love to be known as a WIEL SITTER... NOT!!!

You mean the local teams drag her along to the finish line and can't shake her?  ....and then they want SPONSORSHIP???  You make me laugh!

South African ladies are well sponsored.  They don't need to steal the one(!) foreign competitors lunch money

My point exactly Willehond Clap

Darkhorse - maybe you should meet Jennie before you lash out at her like thisAngry....and also read all the previous posts including Willehonds and mine that explain clearly why in the current setup of racing here there is no doubt that Jennie is adding great value to ladies racing.

Also, she's been kind in sharing her experience & racing tips with myself and my fellow club team mates!

...so all your accusations fall flatAngry

It's quite clear that Dark Horse has never raced, and has no idea about much!

Like Speedplaya has said, Jennie has offered so much to our Cape Town ladies while racing the league. Women's racing is so negative, and Jennie comes in and blows everyone to shreads. You should see the response. Never before have so many local girls been heading off to coaches to improve. The league racing has been exciting and competitive. Let alone the Alpha Pharm series. With no team mates, Jennie can still come in and beat 3 pro teams. hmmm, yeh, you're right they shouldn't sponsor??

Seriously, deal with your issues else where.

Oh and BTW Jennie raced here on her own accorde before AP offered her sponsorship after she won the Helrald in Feb.

Wow!! Hot topic for the day!

Well at least ALPHA PHARM are getting loads of free advertising.

I've not been able to follow all day, but has somebody highlighted the fact that ALPHA PHARM have also sponsored the nationwide ALPHA PHARM series... Thumbs%20Up

Ok ok, so we've all ripped her a new one, but now what? The Tour does not start on TV till 8 and I've got nothing to do till then cos I am too scared to look at the tour related threads cos no doubt the winner oft today's stage has been outed there, and it just is not the same when you know.

So, I was relying on this thread to fil the 20 mins in my oh so pathetically empty life, but Joe Low was right (isnt he always?) - someone should have been more sympathetic. its awfully boring when we all agree. cant remember when that ever happened before. Maybe this thread is indeed the first true indicator that the Messiah really is coming.

Now I will go look at a Lance thread. If I see everyone agreeing there, i swear I will start packing for Mecca.

If I were AP I also would have sponsored Jenny before any local rider. She gave them a great return on their investment. Unlike most SA ladies she is prepared to make any ride a race' date=' so its more exciting to whatch her.

And she's hot.
