Walkerville Manual Timing Letdown

I'm not usually one to complain about

timing ... a few minutes here and there is not a big deal and I'm not

in the race to win it - just to enjoy the day and feel some

self-satisfaction about finishing races, but I am very disappointed

about the manual timing system they had at the Walkerville.

I had to physically disturb the timing

lady who was merrily chatting away about her problems in life and

whatever else to her colleagues under the gazebo at the finish and

she nearly got a fright when I came in and bothered her to take my

time down.

16 minutes difference in my accurate

computer time to my official time is something to complain about...

and to top it all I was classified under the 60km VETERAN WOMAN!

I would swap my goodie bag water bottle

for an accurate timing system any-day. C'mon Medscheme ? organizers

et al.

My polar time was 2:42 for the the 60km. Their manual time was 2:45, so they were a bit out, but I think the margin for error became bigger later in the day.

Goodie bag?!? What goodie bag? I only got an issue of Cycling News and an energy bar (which was quite nice by the way)

Clearly they were nice to the people who did not get water bottles then! LOL I got my water bottle with me at work - and no, you cant have it! Tongue

My garmin packed up early in the race so i have no idea of accuracy but the manual timing seems a bit of a let down however it would also have driven the cost of entries up. I was fortunate in that there was no one near the front or back of me when i came in so i got their full attention.

AGREED, that Stinger-someting protein bar was quite lekka after the race....but still a cool drink (Powerade or Energade) would also have been nice!! smiley17.gif

Mine time was about 7 minutes out. My friend came in 2 minutes behind me according to our timing but officially it was 2 seconds. No way he couldv'e closed that gap in 2 seconds!

Yeah - something is amiss... but the good news is I came in 15th position in the 60KM WOMENS VET's standings. My best result ever! Clap
