Cool, Wannabe...

I have a DC training ride (plus minus 150 kms) scheduled on Saturday 14/08. Will take it ea-zee as well so I can take care of my body with that weekly training load.

Haven't cycled with you in a while. Let's connect on Monday.

Gonna be some serious windchill factor out there tomorrow.

Hope you read this in time if you're coming along...

Temperature in the low teens. South westerly wind @ 25 km/h forecasted.

Bring your wind breaker and winter gloves, Fellow Riders!

Ok, so I was the only fool to arrive at the agreed departure point and time. Geno phoned to make excuse, dunno about rest of group. Was drizzling steadily and I was already soaked by the time I arrived. Two other cyclists also rocked up (not part of "our" group.) They convinced me to go out with them. We went out towards Silos, onto Phisantekraal road, Stellenbosch direction I wanted to swing of on the Bottelary road, but had a "Brain Fade" and allowed my companions to convince me to go on with them to top of Helshoogte. We tuned around at top of Hels and followed same route back. Did I mention it was pissing down with rain and we were soaked to the bone. Wind chill was factor was bad. LOTS OF MUD AND SAND ALL OVER THE ROAD.

Ended up doing 100km for the day, but it feels more than 200km. Got home looking like I did a Mtb race, covered in mud from head to toe. My bike is in a state, with grinding paste like sand and grit all over it.Going to have to spend a bit of time giving her TLC.

A well, another chapter in the book of "Cycling experiences and mishaps"

Sorry there Wannabe - I was at Geno's place (drove from Wellington) and saw what was coming. We waited until the cloud bank passed but I saw another one on it's way so I pulled out. MariusL also said that it was pissing in Tygervalley area. Geno and MariusL were going to ride when the weather became comfortably ridable.

It was because of that wind chill and wet factor that I pulled out - I don't wanna get pneumonia or sick from one 'bad' choice.

Maybe next time man. Would be great to meet.

Myself and MariusL went out at 11h00ish for some good tempo training - 85 kms.

That is only when the weather gods brought out some blue sky.

Wannabe, that is some serious exposure to the elements you and those other riders took.

Stay warm...

SirK, see you next weekend.

Remember, I am scheduled to do a DC training with udxcob-them.

Let's see whether the angels weep again and leave us with wet roads on Saturday.

Hope not.

Wonderfull DC training ride we had yesterday. Durbanville, Wellinton, top of Bainskloof Pass, back through Wellington, out on Malmesbury road and back to Durbanville. 120km in total on my Polar. Geno, we need to do this one more often as part of our "normal" training regimen.

Thanks to GMan, udxcob, MariusL, SirK, and Domisse (now Player23) for the wonderfull company on the ride.

Looking forward to the next ride.

Yah, my highlight was the gorgeous Bainskloof Pass.

Hopefully, we can cross it next time after the road works are complete.
