So Durbanville Roadies, how was your training ride this morning???

Hope you all enjoyed the Gale force SE as much as I did. Managed to get in 50km this morning, including Contermanskloof and 2 repeats up Malanshoogte, the wind was HECTIC , but really good to be in the saddle for close to 2 hours.... Remember all, the Wind can only make you stronger

BigJ. Does that average include the picnic you guys had on the bottelary Rd ;-)

TheForColourChappie (reglizard/pine) and myself passed you guys on our way back from the polkadraai circuit. He tried to greet you and I tried to greet Sean. At the same time - lol

Nice to see both of you back on the bike!!

Sorry I took so long AirBender. Had a full day. Saw your post this morning but needed to go fetch a package from the post office :D yes, my saddle is here. YAY!!

After the ride I went to my parents place to mod the holdfast bike carrier to use the drop down base plate (can show you tomorrow).

Anyway, back to the thread at hand. Well..... this morning started out great. 40min from Wellington to Hermon. Was feeling good. Just before the water pump station (on the way to Riebeeck Kasteel) got a slashed tyre! dammit! Thankfully I was carrying a spare fold up tyre so made quick work of that. Well 10 min. After that I was just mentally buggered. I don't know what it was other than the puncture stop that broke my rhythm and mentally stuffed me up. Got to the T on the R45 at 1hr 30ish. From there it was diagonal head wind. I decided there and then to head home instead of the 126Km route. I went through phases of feeling great and feeling K@K. Wasn't a great place to be, and cycling alone was K@K too.

Anyways, got home in just over 3 hours, 84Km (so much for the century). Had a telecon with my cycling psychologist and we decided to see where my fitness levels are after next weekends race. Sounds like a plan. Just no technicals please. Out.

p.s. see you guys tomorrow.

Didn't look forward to the wind when I woke up this morning, but at 11am it was all worth it. Wind wasn't to bad on our way to Franschhoek and after a coffee and some slices baguette we had a strong wind in our backs all the way to Fisantekraal and then had the last 10-15km back into a strong south-easter. At the end we did 120km at an average of 26km p/h - after our first 60km to Franschhoek took us 2:45, the trip home was only 1:45, thanks to the Cape doctor

LOL, no my polar stops when I stop avg its just riding time, dam okes take so long to put a new tube in I rode off by myself and then headed home after stellies. So the avg was mostly done alone anyway, Otherwise it would of been slower.

Great stuff guys. Good that we all got on our bikes yesterday despite the "pomping" WIND!!

SirK, nothing worse than going through the downers when riding on your own, 85km alone, brave mate, well done

:excl:  :cursing:

One of the toughest examinations I evva faced on two wheels. Lots of small bunching and no man's land.

Respect to the domestiques of the world who protects their lead riders. I tried this role out this morning.

Respect to the elements of the weather gods.

I expect a whole lot of 'hurting' and 'aching' in the commentary of those who were out there this morning.
