My fiancée's gran was about to give this to some guy who collects metal and then recycles it, so I asked if I could rather take it.  It is a Raleigh. Not sure what model. I also cannot find anything on the net. Someone told me it is 1967/68 year. Does someone know?

Old choppers are now very collectable. Restore, and ride with great care, because they like to cause a speed wobble on a fast downhill and throw you off. I still have the scars where one of those bit me in the mid/late 1970s.

I'd love to restore it. Just a bit tight with time and money, mostly time.

Is it wise to strip the paint and have it re-sprayed?

The right side of the handlebar is bent on the curve, not sure how I will get that dent out.

Finally finished my Colnago Master Piu.

Managed to source the Regal Saddle and a Campagnolo Chorus Titanium seat post locally.

So this is the bike in its finish state, weighs in at 9.7kg, not too bad for a 1986 frame with 2005 groupset.post-35520-0-24650800-1419412228_thumb.jpgpost-35520-0-78579700-1419412228_thumb.jpgpost-35520-0-28484400-1419412229_thumb.jpg

You've done a very similar build to me.

Mine's a 84 Master with late 90's 9 speed Record, Regal saddle. Also came in at around the 9.7 - 9.8 kg mark if I remember correctly.

Looks great, enjoy her!

I'm no expert, but that looks like a Raleigh Chipper to me - the baby version of the Chopper.  I had one, when my brothers had Choppers, and it was almost identical to that - even the colour....

Christmas present for the missus, '86 Colnago Mexico. Finished off with newer early 2000 Record group set on Ambriosio Excellence wheels. Brooks B17 saddle. Still trying to find some Keo pedals.

Last call ........................ social ride tomorrow in Johannesburg.

The plan is to meet in Queen St, Modderfontein near the Thornhill Estate at 06:00 to start a ride at 06:30. Emphasise on a social ride.

We will follow Modderfontein Road R25 out to Bapsfontein and back. The distance is about 75km and pretty flat with total elevation about +-350m in total.

We will then have a simple breakfast at the Fireman's Tavern (cheap, only about R45 for full spread).

I am not fit  so hope you guys will be kind to me. This will not be a full on training ride, rather a nice ride out through the countryside.

The roads are nice with some extra wide shoulders and it should be very quiet at this time of the year.

We hope to be finished at about 11:00 latest.

Please call me  (0730693979) for more information, or I will see you tomorrow.

Never posted here before so hope I am in the correct forum. I have a Bianchi Mondiale with SL tubing. I bought it with a mixture of components, Shimano Sora, Shimano 600 & 105. According to Rob from Velo   the Columbus SL is slightly more robust than the SLX. So today I picked up a SLX with a full Campagnolo group. Unfortunately the frame is to small for me so the Campy group will be transferred to the SL. Some pictures attached.

Anybody here know what type of seat this old brown vintage is. Comes off a vintage Bianchi, but the name plate at the back is missing.

I have a similar SL Bianchi but the paintwork is not in as good condition as Eppie's. Will be taking it for a respray at the end of the month.

They are great frames and have been nickel plated before the paint was applied.

Look forward to seeing the after pictures Eppie.
