One of those bi-annual rides!

+-1986 Vitus Carbone 3 in KAS team colors remittent of the Sean Kelly era.

53cm Vitus Carbone 3 frame, carbon tubes bonded into aluminium lugs. Dural 979 fork and stays.

Pat. 1984 Campagnolo Super Record group set

7spd Suntour (sic) cassette on Record hubs. Rear Ambrosio Montreal and front Mavic 280 Gel rims. NOS Wolber Neo Pro tubbies.

Cinelli 65 -42 bar and 90cm stem. White cloth tape, clear coated to save it getting dirty on first ride.

NOS Selle Italia Turbo embroidered saddle.

Total weight as seen 8.6kg (not bad for the age)

Rides very well and likes to zip around corners and potholes due to the short wheelbase. Can't wait to take it to the hills.

The bike is very quiet and apart from the hum of the rubber on the tar this KAS team bike doesn't make any sound.

Still have to find a spare $40 to import some NOS hoods unless someone has a pair lying about gathering dust that they are willing to sell?

With a new set of Schwalbe 700X28's on, and loaded up for a quick camping trip to Magaliesburg this weekend.

Hi Dan

Found this clip-on bottle cage holder.

Yours free it if you want.

It works well and can be secured with a cable tie.

It would end up being more like R2.7 million by the time it got to SA, with shipping, 100% duty on complete bikes and VAT!!!

But, if I had it, I would.

100% on full bikes? The normal rate for full bike imports is 15% plus VAT & relevant handling fee.

Nice man, some really special parts on that beauty.

Yes, as far as i know. A few threads on here saying the same!

Complete bikes=100% + vat

Bike parts = + vat

Those threads are incorrect. Duties are as I stated. 15% on full bikes plus VAT and handling fee. Parts are correct as zero rated.

Honestly don't want to start any arguments, but it's no wonder there's a lot of confusion!!!!

http://www.dutycalculator.com/dc/27366759/sports-leisure/bikes-scooters/bikes-bicycles/import-duty-rate-for-importing-complete-bicycle-from-united-kingdom-to-south-africa-is-0/

says 0% duty on complete bicycles.

No problem, and not denying the abundant confusion. But the the actual duties schedule lists it as 15%. As an importer and distributor, I have invoices illustrating the 15% rate on full bikes and 0% on components.

I might just try this item code on my next import and see what happens...
