I'll break it down for you, so that before you decide to move Wellington and make your millions you can feel informed.

6*labourers @ R100/day

1*foreman @ R200/day

Petrol/chain saw hire @ R200/day

that is an average of 33m/man/day

whoops

we forgot about building bridges, the cut out, cambers, erosion ditches, cutting logs down for the edging.

the most awesome sections usually cost us the most.

I promise you we have never made a cent on building the trail.

please give us your details, the trails we want to build are marked and as we raise the funds you are welcome to see if you can build the same spec as what exists. I would far rather get the chance to ride my bike more.

regards

Ja, PPA we need those new numbers ASAP. The last seeding race seemed to be MTB Argus? Please pull it together.

As for the Gravel Travel crowd, nice people and great event but pre entries should be fast (liability signiture and number pick up).

Guys come on! I can understand that there are bitching about the registration nightmare. Fare enough - worth bitching about. There is no way anybody can take on the route or the entry fee. These guys use their private time building those trails. I take my hat off for what they do so we can enjoy mountainbiking. Anybody bitching about the fee obviously did not end up doing the ride. Do yourselves a favour and come to Wellington over a wknd and ride those trails. It is absolute mtb heaven. Pieter and all the guys involved are legends and we owe them much more than money can buy. Great job guys!!!!!!

Het nie bedoel om jou aan te vat of enige iets nie dit het net belaglike geklink om so baie te betaal vir n single track. So vrae verskoning as ek gedoen het.

And if you were to make a cent on the construction of the trails,I would not hold that against you. There should be a return.

Thank you for doing a great job on the single tracks, I have met the people involved that sacrifice time and money for the rest of the MTB community.

I have no doubt that next year all the problems with registration will be sorted. I will be out there soon to support the Wellington MTB dream.

as the current opinion is raging, what would you say with this proposal.

I am a winemaker, of a winery that makes a popular wine. My boss having seen how much energy we put into building singletracks and the success of mountain biking in bringing people to Wellington, asked me how can he help. Naturally I said we need money!!! and gave him the above scenario. He has in principal agreed to give us the difference in price between trade and cellar price discounted by 5% to make the deal attractive. that would mean that you would buy a wine for R65, we would get R12/bottle for building singletrack. the wine would be sold in cases of 6. do you think people would be interested???

Let me know what you think maybe we should post it on a separate post?

Dryland consists out of two entities:

the one is an online entering system, similar to entrytime.co.za, onlines.co.za or the Cyclelab online entry system, and

an event management company, which brings you races like the Attakwas MTB challenge and the Cape Pioneer Trek.

The organisers of this event only used our online entering system for their online entries, and that is where our involvement ended.

I also pre-entered and was irritated by the long registrations. Yet I cannot believe the ignorance in some of the posts above. The general administration of our races is much better than most countries I have been to.

I cannot wait to be back in SA to ride any race.

I will be back in Wellington.

All the best for the future plans - looking forward to riding it.
