maddox Posted August 17, 2009 Share Hi, I need to replace jockey wheels on my road bike (shimano ultegra 10 speed). I've tried 3 bike shops and no one has them (even the distributor is apparently out of stock). There are a variety of cheaper alternatives (BBB etc.) but the top and bottom jockey's all appear to be exactly the same - whereas Shimano specifically have different "guide" and "tension" wheels. Reg Lizard Posted August 18, 2009 Share Get a nice set of blinged aluminium KCNC items... I got myself a set of KCNC pulleys last week at Bowmans @ around R230. They had the XT ones for about R260. Aparently the latter is compatible with Dura ACe. I had been running my Dura ACe ones for about 18000km now before I replaced them. Johan Bornman Posted August 18, 2009 Share The BBB ones are not cheap - in the R300s, IIRC. Maybe 'cause they have "ceramic" ball bearings. Ball bearing pulleys are not a good idea. The bearings easily become overwhelmed with the gunk thrown at it and the seals quicky become mere plastic washers that let water in. The best pulleys are Shimano or Campag, with bushes.
